How I solved my noise problem with an Antminer S7

So I was looking for a solid, quiet alternative to the included Antminer S7 fans (I was just curious if it was possible or not), and I think I actually found them!  They are these 3500 rpm, 150 cfm, 35 db max fans from Enermax called the Enermax D.F. Storm 120mm.  They are PWM, but their connectors did not fit in the ones on the S7 (they could with a simple bit of sanding / cutting, but I was looking just to test their ability before I broke out the sandpaper  ), so what I did is zip tie the original fans onto the shelf of my test bench type thing where the miner is running, plugged them into the board (and the Enermax fans into the included molex adapters) and dialed their speed way down through the online options.  I can confidently say that while running a tad (8C) hotter at the stock speed of 4.3Th/S, these things are so quiet that it is completely worth it.  I'm currently working on coaxing the S7 up to a small-ish overclock (if possible), so I will update this thread as I go along with anything new that may be interesting for you guys.

Nice to see you fixed it! For such an old miner I'm sure most people would prefer to not buy a new pair of fans as it sets back ROI and profits, but whatever you need for sound. The default fans are not so bad if you turn down the percentage, I put one in my basement and I can barely hear a humming noise in my living room.

I have had this one for a decent amount of time and its fans haven't aged too well , they make a high pitched noise in some rooms that is super annoying, so I figured why not try something new considering I've already gotten my money back for purchasing it and then some!

Awesome alternative! I have an s7-f1 and looked around for powerful yet quiet fans yesterday for over an hour and yet I failed to spot this one... thanks!

To clear up a few things from the OP.

There is no S7 ever that runs at a stock speed of 4.3th. The slowest release was 4.66th (batch 2).

S7 has 2 fan speeds. ~6000rpm for the intake fan and ~4300rpm for the exhaust fan. Going with fans that dont even come close to this is a very bad idea. The increased heat load will shorten the life of the system.

The real resolution is for people to stop buying industrial mining equipment, running it at home, then being surprised/complaining about the sound. If you want to run them at home, dont run them in your living area. Is it really that complicated to figure out?
