Hi,

As per the title, I now successfully have 6x 8Gb cards running, and have just found a couple of old 2GB cards in my loft....

People say you cant really mine with 2GB cards, but just wondered how it worked if they were mixed with bigger cards?

So can I put them in my rig and presumably it will run fine plus a few more MH/s maybe?

Or does each card work independently and the 2Gb will simply not do much?

They are both GeForce Nvidia 2Gb 520's I think?

Fail to plan, and you plan to fail.

GB is not a metric of performance, its just the memory size available to the GPU. When you say you have 6 x 8GB cards, it means nothing because its irrelevant information. Tell us the make and brand of the card coz those matter, the GPU chip on it matters, the memory capacity hardly matters - the only impact that can have on mining is like you mentioned above, under 2gb cards cant mine Eth.
That being said, Nvidia 520's are waaaaay too ancient to be able to mine anything even remotely profitable.

The 2GB cards should still be able to mine Exp and Ubq.
The only reason they can not mine Eth is because the Dag file is larger than 2 Gb.
The question is how much juice do they draw.... Some of the older cards use a lot of Electric and will cut into any profits you are trying to get out of them.

As for your 6x1070's there are WAY more profitable coins to mine on them than Eth.

Ok, which coin would you mine then? As having done the calculations, I am still better off mining ETH with them, as at present, off 6 cards, I am bringing in $1000 per month, which is about $33 a day which is being deposited into my account.

I cant even seem to get close to that with any other coin.

Unless you have a better idea? I would be more than happy to look at making more money.

I did wonder about ZEC, but understand you only get about 400 per card?

Build 2 Rigs and split them up. Much easier to try and optimize and when you are you are still mining with the other rig. Also, then you can add more 1070s when / IF you get them.

Also, always have a spare barebone rig.

How is that going to help splitting it up?

I do plan on building another rig of once I have expanded this to 8x 1070.

Also, always have a spare barebone rig.

What is that to consist of? everything apart from GPU's?

I can build an empty rig other than GPU for about £400
