The best way to prevent malware intrusion is non admin account?

I read in another forum that 90% of malwares, viruses and keyloggers, are of no use if you contracted them from a non admin account for windows.

So basically, using a windows account that does not have admin privileges is the best way to prevent an intrusion?

I find that hard to believe since non admin accounts for windows do have access to all folders in the hard drive such as registries and stuff.

Anyhow, i hope somebody familiar with this subject could chime in.

Non admin accounts cannot run certain levels of execution required by many malware applications.

Technically, even running as an 'admin' is not really an admin in windows vista+ unless UAC is turned off.

Regular 'power users' can change most settings, install software, and modify local policies, but machine-wide settings often require an admin.

The safest way to run is in a protected 'guest' account that resets after use. In Vista this could be achieved with Microsoft Steadystate, but windows 7 provides similar features built in. Or, alternatively you can use a virtual machine only for bitcoin.

The best way to prevent malware is to think before you act.

Besides that:
- Keep your software updated.
- Don't open mails from unknown people and unknown sites.
- Install Adblock Plus and NoScript for Firefox.
