I have noticed I get better hash power with algo's like skein and lyra2v2 using my GeForce 1080, while it's basically pointless to try and mine scrypt coins. Anyone know which algo's work best with nvidia gpu's? Is there objective info on this? Thanks in advance.

Hi,

Go to http://www.whattomine.com
select the number of 1080 cards you have (if you have multiple)
type in the price of your electricity per kwh (kilowatt hour)
Hit calculate...
check the results!

Scrypt has been dominated by ASIC-based miners for YEARS now.
SHA256 (Bitcoin etc) has been ASIC dominated even longer.
X11/X13/X15/Qubit (and 1 or 2 others, I forget the entire Baikal list) have been ASIC dominated for about a year now.

If an ASIC exists for a coin, don't bother TRYING to mine it on any GPU.

I didn't realise Whattomine had added an option for the 1080.
You do need to fix that URL link though, you forgot a " . "

I figured out the address. Smiley Thanks for the info! Looks like my GPU works very well with equihash.
