Depending on the person to whom you would gonna give the gift because if you give him bitcoin without any knowledge on it then it would somehow useless for him since he doesn't even know what it is and dontt know how to use but still if he appreciates then it should be fine but the best thing on gifting bitcoin to someone is those who have knowledge because for sure they will surely appreciate your present.

I would, but only to a few very specific friends who are also very much interested in crypto-currencies.
And it wouldn't be the only gift I'd give them, giving Bitcoins is a bit unpersonal, but in the end, who doesn't like to get money....

I'd probably also give a selection of good altcoins.

It is a nice idea. For me, I will give bitcoin as a gift if they want to. It is the best gift because they will use it or keep it when the price increase, newlyweds will be able to cash it out any ATM banks. It is a good idea if they have already know what is bitcoin and if they are accepting it. They preferred gift is real cash rather than other gifts like bitcoin or appliances. I'll request bitcoin as a gift when I get married.

In my opinion a wedding gift must be something very traditional , very classic and one special , not something virtual
Maybe in future maybe i will offer gift btc to my son , the ceo from blockchain said in a interview that bitcoin will reach €500,000 in year 2030 . We dont know maybe is true maybe is just a speculation .

I will give bitcoins only if either one of the bride and groom knows how to use it. I will hand over a private key to them instead of asking them in their wedding what is their wallet address. You would think that people will conduct an effort in order to receive the bitcoins that you just sent to them. But they are probably not. If they know someone who knows how to use bitcoin, they will just pay him a good percentage of the bitcoins that you just sent. It's just too much trouble setting up a wallet, verifying identification, and then cashing out the bitcoins.

Like with other things, you have to pick what gift should that person receive. If the person is a carpenter, then some advanced tools will be highly appreciated. But if you give him, for example, make up kit and he's a guy, he will not appreciate it at all and might even get offended.

I guess, the idea of giving bitcoin as a wedding gift is a good idea.  But before giving it to newly wed, proper education regarding bitcoin and how it works must explained to them so they will appreciate it.  Since bitcoin is a good form of investment that they can use in the future, I think anybody who will receive bitcoin as a gift will really appreciate it and find it useful and worthy.

That's a great idea to build awareness about this technology. I would definitely give bitcoin to a person (if he is capable of using a smartphone) with a polite advice to hold it for next 10 years. However, instead of a wedding, it would be more appropriate to give such gift to someone who is 5 or 10 years old (of course in the hands of his parents). I would, why not? It's unique and original, something new for most of the people in this world, and its better to give bitcoin price can go up in the future and gift will worth much more one day, that is better then to give fist money.
I saw people are talking about giving bitcoins as a present to kids, that is maybe better, bitcoin is technology and new kids are much more involved with digital world then old people. As kids they will not know what they have until parent's give them that for 10 years, for that it would be good to add extra bitcoins and that can be a little fortune when a kid grows up.

Definitely NO, because it's the time you want to show how important the wedding is and you have to give her the best gift you've ever had and it shouldn't be a kind of currency. Maybe some things that is meaningful to your relationship is the right one to gift for your love. That is if the person you are gifting in question understands what bitcoin is or probably you will use it as an opportunity to preach the gospel of bitcoin to him or her. As far as I can transfer fiat to someone via bank wire transfers as gift, I see no reason why gifting bitcoin should be a challenge.

I would print a nice paper wallet for the couple and fund it with a few hundred dollars to make it interesting. I will add a note saying, " If this is not redeemed within 6 months, then the money will be removed. " I will keep the private key and then move the bitcoins to another address, if they did not use it within 6 months. Most people are lazy by nature, so you have to push them a little to do something. ^smile^

In my country it is customary for the wedding to give things or cash. Very few people know what are bitcoins and it would be very long to explain what it is. I don't see the point to give bitcoins to people who don't believe in him.

If I have plenty bitcoin then I can give it as a wedding gift to those who are really close to my heart and as I can see people who are getting married nowadays are more practical and prefer receiving money as a gift rather than things.
