I am the software development lead on the Care4Me project.  You raise an excellent point that what is the coin supposed to do?

In our application's technical design we are spending a lot of effort on making the coin a core element of the application's architecture.  What attracted me to Ethereum token technology, after thirty years of financial and trading software coding, is the programming power of the Smart Contract.

Unlike other blockchains out there, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) allows the software developer to perform programming actions of any complexity right on the chain, visible to the public.  Of course, not every software function in Care4Me needs to be performed on-chain.  However, certain actions are best broadcast on this public ledger.  Here are some activities we expect to do on-chain, which will innately make Care4Me stronger compared to completely proprietary nursing services platforms:

1.  Certification of Nurses' professional qualifications by independent reviewers, what we call the Director of Nursing function, and publication of the proof of this work on the blockchain.

2.  Reviews of Nurses' performance on cases assigned to them will be recorded on the chain.

3.  Customers who use the nursing services will be awarded coins as loyalty points, and will be able to redeem them to pay for goods and services, similar to airline miles.

4.  Performance rewards to nurses will use coins, similar to gift-card programs.

5.  We will facilitate the exchange of coin balances with other popular token coins, so that nurses and customers can redeem their rewards for tokens and points issued by other companies and platforms.  This trading liquidity, combined with the use of the coin as a payment medium, will give it the characteristics that make a currency widely held and used.

6.  As a specialized currency focused on nursing and related medical services, we will add the element of trust to financial transactions because all the parties on our platform will have been through some kind of review or evaluation process, and the results will be recorded on the blockchain, tamperproof, and for all to see.

Of course, all this will not happen overnight.  We are gearing up for the long haul.  With your support at the presale, we will have the development budget to roll out a minimum viable product (MVP) in the next 3-4 months.  The MVP will showcase the innovative use of smart contract functionality in Care4Me, and will allow us to proceed to ICO, so that we can take this project to the full enterprise level.

The time between presale and ICO was intentional. We want to make sure we make the best use of funds raised at presale to complete the minimum viable product (MVP). This is a huge task. For the platform to be successful in the American market (Our First Market) there needs to be a great deal of due diligence done to meet federal and state regulations as well as to set up corporate operations to meet all the road blocks we may find a long the way. We want to make sure that by the time we launch our ICO that we have a working mvp and corporate operations set up to take us to phase 2 of the project which is international scalability.

We currently have planned to launch our ICO around September or October, but if we meet our goals before then, then we will definitely consider launching it sooner. We expect CareCoin to be trade-able in the market by the time we launch our official ICO. A successful presale is paramount to us being listed on exchanges. I sure hope this is the case. If we raise target funds as quickly as other Presales have we can definitely get a head start and have an MVP completed sooner than anticipated. We always plan for the worst and expect the best. We hope to raise the funds in the first couple hours of launching presale but we have planned for it to take the entire allocated time for the presale just in case.
