I wouldn't try CatCoins. I started to mine those from day one and have lost money. I am willing to bet it goes the way of Ferdora (TIPS).

Just got scammed by a mining pool stole 30k coins
If you indeed got scammed by a mining pool. Why aren't you posting their name , their address , what coins did they stole from you? So at least other members can be warned , if there was a mistake you might get your coins back , etc etc..... |

I am mining Doge now. Was mining Coye. Coye seems to be trading 2:1 with Doge. ie Doge is worth twice as much at the moment. Any word on exchanges other that 0daycoins that are doing coye and doge? |

Not heard of them but half of these new altcoins are scams or pump and dumps, just do some research on them before you waste your time or invest. |

which altcoin started later than doge seems to be the best one?
maybe ronpol but it has too long period of retargeting so it's doomed to have big waves of difficulty.
Any other suggestions?

I figure if you can get in and mine them even for the first few hours you can grab up a bunch of coins and then hope for the best for that coin later on. Is this sensible or should you stick with a select few coins and mine them as much as possible what do you look for in a alt coin? Thanks!
