I had created a thread with the title of this post, which garnered over 3000 views and over 60 replies.

It was deleted.

Not locked. Not moderated.  But expunged.

It was actually full of lively debate from a lot of people other than myself.

Expunged.

Why?

We need to really start bringing attention to the censorship here.

I call shenanigans.  This is obviously a move by the admins of this forum for damage control, to keep Mt. Gox from suffering the fate it so rightly deserves.

There is definitely collusion with MtGox by the admins of these forums.  You people are being taken for a ride.  Wake up.

Ah, well, time for a mass exodus to some other forum which will then end up having this happen again?

I can see at least getting rid of anything illegal in the country it's hosted in, so you can keep the forums, but getting rid of this = ...

:s

edit: Although, it may have been a bit provocative? I can't really see how that makes it good to get rid of it...

You wish. I actually only had made about 10% of the posts in that thread. It was a community discussion, not a rant.

It was just a discussion that the powers that be do not approve of.

Ah, well, time for a mass exodus to some other forum which will then end up having this happen again?

Yeah, it's pretty fucking telling that they'd get rid of that thread...

Get it through your head people.  This is not a free forum.  The debate is being manipulated for the benefit of large interests.

LIKE FUCKING LOBBYISTS, MTGOX IS INFLUENCING THE DEBATE HERE.

You have been put on notice people.

I didn't think the post was out of line.

The mods/admins/developer/exchange owners are all mates. It's kind of ridiculous to have a decentralised currency with such a centralised core.

You want 100% uncensorable forum - post your post to Freenet.  Freenet + Frost setup is 5 minutes,  +Freetalk is another 2.
Anyway what was the post about? Did it contains something "bad" like more leaked private information etc?

Then by all means help decentralize the Bitcoin world further and start another forum. As an experiment, you can simply start a Bitcoin thread on 4chan and see how well that goes!

Thank you piuk.  It was a rather good discussion about the weaknesses of MtGox and exchanges in general, but there was a large bias against MtGox by most of the posters there, and really put MtGox on the chopping block.

It should be apparent to everyone here now that behind the scenes the major players are connected, and you are mostly a bunch of patsies in their game.

I didn't see the thread but removing it was a completely fucking retarded thing to do.  Mtgox is a disaster for bitcoin and needs to be killed off.  The bitcoin-rich above all should realise this is in their interest.  We need a healthy selection of secure, competing exchanges... basically the complete opposite of mtgox.

Synaptic, you're rude as hell and generally obnoxious. About par for the course for here.

Mods, start explaining about the deletion. Suppressing discussion like that looks extremely bad, especially at a time like this.

Selling out to advertisers shows you respect neither yourself nor the rest of us.

All caps in the thread title was a bad start Synaptic, IMO.
Also the wording could be more suitable to an honest discussion. Would you consider understanding the fact that "Do you think people should still use MtGox?", is more likely to appear to invite an unbiased discussion?

If you are open to trying out new methods, then perhaps you can learn to be an asset to the community, since your level of passion and intensity is obviously so strong.  Smiley

I apologize.  I am going on 36 hours awake as is usual for me and checkin in here to see that thread deleted was just sickening.

Even more sickening is the absolute ignorance of some the users posting in this thread. Like somehow they're justified in turning a blind eye to blatant corruption here on these OFFICIAL bitcoin forums.

It's even further sickening because of what they're supposedly standing up for with bitcoin LOL.

Yes, you sheeple need to learn once and for all that Bitcoin was just revealed for what it really is: The most elaborate Ponzi scheme ever. The so-called "hack" was nothing but a ruse to cover a cash-in of many bitcoins by many early adopters. All with the blessing of mtgox, which got a nice cut of the profits to allow this. All of the early adopters have been repeatedly proven to have ties with the CIA, NSA and even PETA, so this is just a giant scheme orchestrated by the government in order to keep wealth from the bottom 99.99999% of the population. If you sheeple don't abandon Bitcoin RIGHT NOW you deserve to be bumfucked any way the government sees fit. Go to the smaller exchanges RIGHT NOW and sell every last bitcoin you have, salvage what you can.

If you uneducated and unwashed masses will keep using Bitcoins from now on you would only strengthen the government's grip on your balls. If they see you still using it they will try to profit even more from your lack of brains. The owners of this forum will use the alien servers from Area 51 - the ones provided to our government by the bunion people from Zeta Reticuli - to take control the network. Do you think the "51" in the "Area 51" is just a coincidence? If so then you are nothing but an ignorant beast, it's called that way because of the "51% attack" that can be used to fork the blockchain and acquire ALL of the BTC in existence!

I, for one, am glad I only invested 15.000 dollars in mining gear a week ago. I will not lose anything from this, I have only to gain, since if this thing goes south I can use my rig to finally enable uber-sampling in The Witcher 2 and play it with a decent 10 FPS.

I don't have much faith in the bitcoin-rich' desire for a helthy market after learning about how they pull off senseless 17k sell-offs and stores hundreds of thousands of BTC in their accounts on flaky cartoon exchanges.

You're seriously defending their censorship of dissent against the largest crisis this community has faced, because of capitalization and pithy rhetoric?

The furture of BitCoin legitimacy is locked to MTGox because it is the largest exchange. That means that right now BitCoin needs MTGox badly.

If MTGox is deemed a danger to use and it's legitimacy is questioned to harshly, so is the bitcoin for many.

Don't expect that to change.

Expect that, and the censorship to deepen.

Plus, BitCoin leaders have stated that BitCoin can use some investment, which is certainly something MTGox can provide with the profits from their transactions.

It is not unheard of for those with money doing secret backroom deals with those in need of money.

Freedom of speech also includes the right of forum owners to set standards and rules for their forum, or (for example) would you rather have the Chinese Gov. enforce their own special concept of freedom?

You forgot to mention that all of this is orchestrated by the communist Bilderberg group (also called here by the name "Satoshi"), which is the organization behind the designing of Bitcoin and implementing it as a tool to bring faster the New World Order and the Global Government!!

Uh huh.

Yep.

No censorship, collusion or manipulation of the debate going on here.

The point is they expunged a rational well reasoned evisceration of MtGox by numerous community members.

This was obviously a decision by the admins to save MtGox's ass from bad press.

You agree with that?

Again, for uncensored forums - go Freenet

So, are you defending the admins of the OFFICIAL forums for manipulating the debate in the favor of power players. to the detriment of the community?

Well, Synaptic. Speaking as a "fucking retard" I think he's just politely reminding you of the decentralized nature of the Internet, that empowers you to speak your mind unfettered by the oligarchic masters laughing at you from their black helicopters here at the "official" Bitcoin forums. If I felt as disaffected as you clearly do, I might go ahead and do something similar. Starting your own forum is really easy: you just... but I've already said too much; they've probably overheard this conversation. No, wait! I'm loyal! I didn't say that, it was someone else— I was hacked! AAAHHHH! [gun with silencer sound effect, two shots] Uurrrgghhhh!

Yes, in some ways BTC does resemble the world's most brilliant Ponzi scheme ever. If BTC gains true value for Global barter, then everyone gets paid big even the bag holders.   Cheesy

You agree with that?

The point is:

All caps in the thread title was a bad start Synaptic, IMO.
Also the wording could be more suitable to an honest discussion. Would you consider understanding the fact that "Do you think people should still use MtGox?", is more likely to appear to invite an unbiased discussion?

If you are open to trying out new methods, then perhaps you can learn to be an asset to the community, since your level of passion and intensity is obviously so strong.   Smiley

I am simply shocked by your complete unawareness of the HARD REALITY that surrounds you. The censorship and government collusion is more obvious than ever, yet you still go out of your way to savagely defend this forum, it's owners and the ELITE that is using you AS WE SPEAK to further their goals.

All I can say is that you're a shill ready to do every mod's bidding and your blind dedication to them and to Bitcoin will be your eventual downfall.

Synaptic, you're rude as hell and generally obnoxious. About par for the course for here.

Mods, start explaining about the deletion. Suppressing discussion like that looks extremely bad, especially at a time like this.
Don't worry, they don't have to explain anything - they can just delete this thread too. Synaptic's thread wasn't the only one that mysteriously went missing; so did the original thread that started all this and several other threads that were negative about Bitcoin or MtGox.

Synaptic, a lot of people on this forum have a disdain for the the main stream media. The msm has already been calling scam and ponzi scheme for weeks which means that even if Sotashi himself came out and admitted it they wouldn't believe it.

It was deleted by Sirius. Probably because it was one of the low-quality "SELL SELL SELL" topics that have been flooding the forum over the last few weeks. It received many reports.

Except the topic was about leaving MtGox . . . not BitCoin.

Say, you wouldn't happen to be the same theymos that is #8 on the MtGox account list, would you? Cause that sure would be an interesting coincidence.

I don't agree with the deletion at all. Of course, I don't know what was in the thread beyond the first couple of pages, as I didn't stick around to read it. Neither can I now know. If a thread needs shutting down, lock it. Deletion is extreme.

I'm honestly not sure how I feel about using this forum at the moment.

+1

As much as I find Synaptic shrill and annoying he has made some valid points and I'd quite like to have read what other people on the thread had to say.

I'm not sure how I feel about using bitcoin at all right now which is sad because I was quite excited by its potential.

I believe they're trying to hold back a secret. When Mt. Gox first set up support.mtgox.com, it had a comments section, and two separate people asked MagicalTux to "confirm or deny this", with a link to a thread in this forum. When I clicked the link, I got an error saying that the thread didn't exist. Both posts led to the same URL.

It sucks how when the big trading sites take a DDOS or go offline, the BTC value drops instantly.  BTC will obviously be worth a fortune in the long run but I wish we could make it through 1 week without a disaster!
