Hi
This is just an idea I just came with - A bit like r/showerthoughts.

Could we implement a banner for a sold account? So like the one that says "This users password was changed recently", it could read "this account was sold recently". Of course some account sales are undercover, but it could just be a box that admins could tick if they knew of a sold account.

I thought of this because I support account sale, but I do think something needs to be done against its malicious purposes. This is mainly because scammers make everybody think that the people that sell accounts are d**ks, when actually people like me are just selling to recoup money from a defaulted loan.

Just an idea, thanks for reading.

No, forcing the admins to do the work would go against the decentralization policy the forum is taking - i.e. the trust system.

Besides, not seeing the account sold warning might give a person false confidence.

I don't see any point into supporting account sales. It's quite simple, there are basically no benefits of account selling to outweigh the very likely negative aspects.

I understand that you want to gain your money back by liquidating the account(s) you obtained due to defaulted loans, but you shouldn't accept accounts as collateral in the first place.

Nobody is supporting the sales, but it's very hard to monitor them. Sometimes you can prove it, but not always. This means that those easy to spot would get the banner and the rest would keep flying below radar. I suppose that's why staff isn't openly fighting it.

Unenforceable. 99% of accounts get sold behind closed doors and for this exact reason. If you're dumb enough to publicly state it's a bought account then you'll likely get tagged with negative feedback anyway.

I've been applying a red tag on sold accounts or buyers or sellers of accounts for a year now.   Got a lot of hate mail and retaliatory feedback,  but at least I can keep track of who's doing what.  Your idea is impractical but I would support it simply because I'd support anything being done to mark these shitbags.  But it's not going to happen.

It is really not possible to tell authoritivly if an account has been sold or not. The administration may be able to tell with good certainty, however this will almost always require good judgment.

This may also give credibility to hacked accounts as it may be difficult to differentiate between a hacked and sold account in some specific situations.

I concur. How exactly do you confirm the the account is sold (in some cases it works, but it will not work in all cases)? Is it because my IP has changed in addition to password/email? The last time that I've done a password/email change I've also changed the VPN that I'm using, for example.

I've been applying a red tag on sold accounts or buyers or sellers of accounts for a year now.
I think that is appropriate, especially if the accounts have previous positive trust (especially from DT members).

Whether you call it supporting, or that you think account selling should be allowed, essentially it's all the same.

Another important factor is that you aren't completely unbiased, as you are looking to liquidate accounts that you obtained due to people defaulting on loans.

BSV is not the real Bcash. Bcash is the real Bcash.
