Hi there,

I've managed to generate some proof that I own my original account named 'monsterer' which was hacked and offered for sale.

In this old thread I post about a game I was working on which included a video hosted on youtube under my own youtube account:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=561811.msg6128327#msg6128327

I've made this new video on the same youtube account, proving that I own the orginal:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsCqOB3Ab6g

I hope this is enough to prove it.

Cheers, Paul.

I don't think the admins will accept any proof apart from a signed message from an unedited bitcoin address.

Read this
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0

If you want us to recover a hacked/lost account, you need to prove that you own it. Typically, the only acceptable method of proving ownership is by signing a message (including current date and desired new email address) using a Bitcoin address or PGP key associated with the account. A Bitcoin address or PGP key is associated with the account only if the account posted the key/address, sent it in a PM, or if it is still listed in the account's profile.

I very rarely recover accounts if you can't prove ownership as described above. There are alternative ways of proving ownership, but they take too much time. If I point you to this thread, you can't prove ownership properly, and then I ignore your future PMs, this means that I'm not going to recover your account. Create a new one.

Well this is applicable if he has no address linked to his profile or lost an access to it. I'll check if I can find some address.

Verified but I think you should do it again properly.

Code:
-----BEGIN BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----
My account <account> has been hacked/lost. Please reset the email to <email>. The current date is <date>.
-----BEGIN SIGNATURE-----
<insert address here>
<insert signature here>
-----END BITCOIN SIGNED MESSAGE-----

The email which you will reset your email to (might somehow been changed) and the date should be included. Post it in this format.

P.S. Post the Sign Message here first so we can verify if it's okay before you send it to theymos or Cyrus.

Seems to be a lot of hero/legendary members trying to reclaim hacked accounts lately.   Some of them seemed suspicious,  like the claimees were attempting to 'chargeback' on an account sale.  OP here does seem legit though.   The security on this site is just awful.

Nice game on that thread,  BTW.  Loved Asteroids back in the day.

I've PM'ed theymos yesterday with the correctly formatted proof - how long does he typically take to reply?

Typically,he never replies, especially when out of all the important things,an hacked account is concerned. There are several users waiting for their accounts to get recovered since months (maybe year) now.Nothing much you can do,wait in the queue.

I had to PM him a few years ago when my account was locked because of the forum database hack and never got a response. (It was a valid request)

BadBear fixed my problem in a day or so but from what i see, he is no longer an admin of the forum.

Only an admin can restore your account and I don't know if there are any other admins other than theymos.

edit: Thx Mr. Zakir for the tip. OP, you can try Cyrus too.

Only an admin can help you! Currently, only theymos and Cyrus are admins. Asking anybody else to recover account won't help you and you will only be wasting your time. Use your current account until your old account is recovered. There is no need to wait until your account is recovered to post.

Be very wary of anyone asking you what your old password was - they are likely trying to defraud you.

i thought awhile ago this forum was hacked, wasn't it? Am I wrong in tinking that?

It really could be a spam or phishing email that I got, but a long time ago, maybe 2 years or so, i got some kind of thing saying that bitcointalk forum was hacked and to change password. I did not open email just read the preview of it. Gotta be safe hehe

I'm also trying to recover mine old account (cienki777) - some fucking idiot probably tried to used it as my trust there is low now!

I have all private messages saved on the email which used to be linked to my old account (my email was never hacked - I have sms verification and very strong password there). I also have my fb profile and other accounts linked to this email. I'm afraid I've never used my btc address in here though... is there any way I can recover it?

I have sent 2 pm to mods but I have not heard anything back yet...

There's a database hack of bitcointalk.org years ago maybe around 2015 (if I remember correctly) which are auctioned in black market and disclosed.
