Any comments from mods on why the thread was deleted? Note I didn't read much of it, and the deletion happened after I'd gone to sleep. Still, I find the accusations troubling.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

+1

At worst, can't we have a 'Toxic' board where these posts are moved from the main boards but still available?

Don't worry, the consensus seems to be that it's all my fault for being an abrasive person and using all caps in the thread title.

It has nothing to do with 3000+ views and 60+ replies (at the time I left the forum, was probably much more by the time it was deleted) that the rest of the community had made.

Nothing to see everyone, move along now.

These are not the threads you're looking for.

Still on the fence about the deletions or have you gone ahead and rejoined the herd yet?

Doesn't seem to be much info forthcoming apart from "yes it was deleted" and as far as I can tell, no-one gives a shit. Not sure what to do. This whole forum is way too hopped up, can't seem to get a single thread going without it being derailed by petty bickering (You've done more than your share to keep this going, Synaptic.)

Maybe I'll try to write up a concise, polite, no-bullshit explanation of why I don't think deletions are acceptable and post a poll about it. Don't know if anyone really reads Meta, though, and I think any such thread will descend into a flamefest about two posts into it. We'll see.
