I think the question should be WHICH altcoins have a future?

As the OP mentioned, bitcoin is the first of it's kind and it has a real world use. But come to think of it, Ethereum is the same. It was the first to use smart contracts of which are widely used today (just look at ICOs). There are lots altcoins out there like Ethereum that address issues and problems bitcoin is not capable of. Surely, some of these altcoins should succeed.

of course altcoins have a future. Just bitcoin with the greatest history and marketing of the coin. It is easier technologically, and therefore more understandable.

Some altcoins will have a future, but the majority will not.

Cryptocurrency provides a lot of cost savings and time savings for certain uses, but not all.

Bitcoin has a different purpose compared to other altcoins and many of them has true value which has a future if the people would continue to use these altcoins. Through blockchain technology, many altcoins are created that can help people to have transactions efficiently and effectively. Though there are some coins that are just copycat of others, some of them has innovations that the previous coins doesn't have so people prefer it over others and there are some that has value in the beginning but later on abandoned by developers so it is only existing for speculation purposes.

Half of mobile phone market leaders disappeared in less than 10 years, translate that to cryptocoin speed... In one year the market could be totally different, gains and drops of 100%+ in markets and new developments maturing in months not years... You cant forecast this market long term unless long term means next 6 months or less.

Some do, most don't. Just like penny stocks most altcoins are very higher risk in the medium and long term. With a few exceptions I just use most altcoins to trade for more BTC and Ether.

I believe Bitcoin has a future in long term. It proved itself in the past years and it is getting widely popular. It just has a transaction fee problem atm.

What about the altcoins? Who does use them for real? Will people use them in the future for real purpose?

I only have a hope for ethereum and litecoin, but not for the rest. I am not even sure for eth and ltc.

If bitcoin solves the reansaction fee and time problem, I doubt eth and ltc even have a future.
Cryptocurrency is here to stay and things will get better and there will be better use for your coins. Just be patient. It will happen it's just a matter of time.

So many new coins are coming in the market with their solid project and they are promising for their good work of coin. and so many coins are running in the crypto market with their particular business setup. But on 25% altcoin have their future because these coins are giving services to their customer and growing day by day. A coin which gives faith, technology, services, profit and growth to investor that coin will not stop in the market and no body can stop to it any cost.
like Ripple is providing banking solution to market and making huge faith and profit of the investor. so, some altcoins really have a good future and they will boom after some times.

Do remember that ether also start from altcoin with low value and have now raise to become the standard and stable value coin. That is why so many people are trying to find the next one and hopefully able to x100 because of that. It is not going to be easy to find the only one out of 1000 over altcoin. But i always tell people to balance their portfoilo and not 100% into altcoin for the quick gain.

Yes. Altcoins have a great future ahead. Thinking of a long term, yes it is. We just need enough knowledge to know how to handle this.

I think not all altcoin can have a future, which has a bright future in my opinion there are still many,
example airtoken, ethereum, dent, hubi

Altcoins have a great future because now this market is gaining popularity and people want to know about crypto from many sources. It is a future market and if you hold it for long run, you earn huge income from your altcoins.

Dent? No, this is a failure project and I am so sad since I had used my money to invested into this project. Instead of I can choose Bitquence in that time, but just by the reviews from some website reviews ICOs made me choose DENT and until today, I still have not any profits from this coin.

Yes of course, altcoins have unique characteristics. This question was also asked before about bitcoins. But look at now! Bitcoins grew at large. It became a worldwide phenomenon. And i think altcoins will be too. Let's hope in that and wait until we'll have our profit. The world is round, so let us not loose hope on altcoins.  Grin Grin Grin Smiley

Oh yes as there are seas of shitcoins in the exchange and some of them are just an accessory in our wallet.
Yes there are still some altcoins that are promising to hold such as eth, ltc, mco, xrp and many more.
If you want to invest in just look at the first three pages in bittrex and choose from it.

Yes if altcoin development continues to increase then altcoin can be ensured to be one of the competitive market and has a very big value. The most important thing now is how an altcoin can survive and also has a strong team of developers, as this will largely determine how altcoin evolves in the future.

I agree with this sir but let's just hope that everything will go fine. Etherium for me seems to be the legit altcoin to follow bitcoin in the future. Who knows, the best altcoin are still i the laboratory and ready to deploy anytime.

There will be many blockchains in the future.Having everything on one blockchain is not logical. So bitcoin will exist, eth will exist, etc will exist, many more will exist.
