Hey guys,

Today I found https://k3dt.eu/bitcoin-generator/ which generates a wallet for you and guess what? I ended up on a bitcoin address with 69 bitcoins; however, its private key has no meaning and it's not possible to import it anywhere.

Can anyone explain please? Check screen below:

Looking at the private key, i'd say this one probably is a hoax or a bug.
Why would you use an online site to generate a private key, that sounds incredibly unsafe and risky...

I just wanted to see the concept behind it. Otherwise, I checked the address on BlockChain.info and it has exactly the same amount disclosed. Maybe the problem is with the private key.

Your screenshot show 6 Billion BTC as unspent outputs. So, it must be a bug, since at this moment, there could only be ~16.5 Million in cirulation. This is why i labeled it a bug or a hoax.

Check by yourself https://blockchain.info/address/1HT7xU2Ngenf7D4yocz2SAcnNLW7rK8d4E the same numbers it's just not 69 billion bitcoins but 69 bitcoins.

The bug is in the generator, it didn't show a comma in the amount. So any explanation? I want to use them Cheesy

The address only exists due to a bug.   It is impossible to generate a working private key for it.

You aren't lucky.

That address belongs to ripemd160(sha256("")) and is a known bug : https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/issues/445

You cannot spend from it.

It is exist because of the bug. Dont use an online site to generate a key it is more risky for you.

NO! You could generate this with a B6 format private key if you used 99 0's (0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000). But there should never have been anything for 0, that's why it's a bug.

There are also addresses in use that have a 1 at the end or other very easy patterns. To check them out you could go to bitaddress.org and when you go to wallet details punch in 99 numbers ranging from 0-5. There you go, if you get lucky and steal someone's bitcoins I'm not responsible.
