I use Bittrex to trade back and forth with altcoins to (try and) increase my BTC stash. Recently I noticed that my balance was lower then I would expect. I did some calculations and concluded that indeed, I was missing about 0.17 BTC. Opened a ticket with Bittrex and after a month of back-and-forth, they concluded that nothing is missing.

So either they are mistaken or I am mistaken with my calculations. Which may very well be the case. So if anyone could please give a second opinion, that would be much appreciated.

Attached a screenshot of my recent trades. No withdrawals (or deposits) were made during this time. On the 21 of July, I sold (practically) all my altcoins for in total 1.05574581 BTC (only 19 QNT was left unsold). After that I traded QNT -BTC back and forth, and made profits. If I sum up all my sells after the 21st of july, and all my buys, and subtract them from each other, I would then have calculated all my profits since then, right? I summarized those below. If I add that to what I had in BTC on the 21st of July, I should now a balance of 1.4247975 BTC. However my balance is only 1.249 BTC.

The 19 QNT I mentioned earlier was sold in this period for a total of 0,016403 BTC on the first of September.

So WTF is happening here. Where am I mistaken? Or is Bittrex mistaken?

BTW Bittrex send me some .csv which they said would allow me to self-audit, however those files were incomplete and the data could not be imported in Excel in a way that the data would be meaningful.

Any help would be much appreciated!!

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

Did you account for transaction or trading fees?

Yes, fees are included in the totals of the transactions, for example, see the screenshot below. Thank you for your reply!

I made a spreadsheet of the values in the image.  This shows pretty much the same as what you expect - more data is needed.  The .csv file is key.

What data do you need exactly? The CSV's Bittrex sent?

Thank you!!

And thanks for the Richie La-info, very useful if this does turn out to be their fault.

xhomerx10 Found the problem.

Bittrex does not list partial trades, but only the whole trade. So there was one trade on the 21st that had partially filled earlier, I already bought some alt for that BTC, and sold that alt on the 21st. So I was counting that twice.

So no shady business at Bittrex, luckily.

Thanks for everything xhomerx10, and everyone else who helped!

 Roll Eyes

I take it all back then. This time they haven't scammed. Should be no need at this stage of the cycle.
