With the pace of altcoin 'launches' and spam threads where JR members collude to sell/buy new coins to inflate value AND the rampant scamming going on I suggest that we introduce a time/post based requirements for starting new topics.

The forums has gone so quickly downhill the last month that it is all but useless at this point, and it is 95% JR members/N00bs that inflate their post counts with '+1' posts etc.

Can we PLEASE disallow topic creation for accounts younger than at least a month, maybe 200 posts! I think this would do wonders for the overall quality of posts and quickly reduce scamming.

EDIT: Please note that I am not claiming that all JR Members are scammers. All I am saying is that it is obvious that the current 'market' makes it exceptionally profitable to register a flood of accounts and quickly become a JR member solely for the purpose of collusion and scamming. I think we have plenty of evidence that this is happening and we need to find a way to stop it before we really start hurting crypto currency as a whole, not to mention this forum.

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

You are talking about removing a right from all of the JR Members, solely for an Alt Coin issue.

scam or not? you do not have right to decided it
you think new coin is a scam, other do not think like you, they think it is a opportunity, lmao

Not specifically for the issue of alt coins, but the influx of new members has been massive. A lot of them obviously not reading or abiding by board rules and arriving for the sole purpose of launching alcoins, colluding on sales and scamming people. JR members would still be able to post inside topics as usual etc. I am just getting sick and tired of every board being populated by scams and sale/purchase threads by people that have no idea of etiquette and common sense.

I'm not saying I 'decide' what is a scam or not. But the trend in scam posts and spam is pretty clear, and it is also clear that 90%+ of the responsible are members that registered in the last 30 days.

Agreed. The rise of new alt coins I think is also influenced by btc-e adding new coins that arent worth anything and giving them a value.... People see this as a opportunity to make some extra money.

Anyhow, you have to be an idiot to participate in 99% of the scam coins that are being launched en masse lately. If people is eager to be scammed... Well, what can we do? So be it.

An opportunity to scam - the only business model here is to be the first one in and the first one out.

Again: you have to be an idiot to participate in this pump&dump schemes.

I am in favor of some reasonable restriction to be put in place.  Not sure that a ban on new posts is the answer, but I agree that some adjustments could be put in place that balance the need for people to post new threads against the overwhelming amount of alt-coin topics.

I understand that the main purpose of this website is related to BTC but with the recent growth of the alts it might make sense to mature the forum structure under the alt section.  Maybe something like a sub-section for each of the coins and in order to post there the submitter needs to jump through a few hoops first.  I am open to change if it helps organize/improve things a little better.  Smiley

Agree, people with less than 1 month old account should have post cap per day and not be able to move to full member even if post count exceeds 100. This is not just to fight spam, but also make it easier to tell if someone's account looks fishy and just created for the purpose of scamming.

Maybe what we really need is non-imbeciles that support every new altcoin that appears out of nowhere to support rich-quick scheme.

Hint: I'm now converted and I'm one of those imbeciles that jump to the alt-coins.

Date registered, march 30.

You supported FC which was coin who initiated all this problems you are talking about, and maybe you were supporting CNC too.

So you got the train of FC but dont want the new users to do the same you did.

Only because that topics are 10 days old than the topics you supported you are pissed..

lol this is unbelievable.. scammers acussing other scammers.

that is actually exactly what they are doing , its the old gypsy trick, you might have seen it on "lock stock and two smoking barrels" lol

person1(scammer) - "oh yes i'll take five of those ! "

person2(scammer) - "10 i'll have 10 "

victim - {hmm this must be good i'll buy}

point is but , so what ? that's the market man , people get scammed , no one supports it , and i expect that actually BTer is running the scam that's why they keep adding these "junk coins".

but again as i said, free market,  it will be to the ultimate detriment of the actual exchange , they will hurt themselves and close down not long after, after the scam is over,

again...

so what?

the forum hasn't been affected as i see.

I think you may be misunderstanding me. Sure, I dislike the pace at which alt currencies are created right now but that is NOT my point. I have never scammed anyone, I have never colluded in sales/purchases of any currency and I sure as hell have not spammed the board with 'Trollbox' chatter to inflate any currency. I also consider the idea of being a 'supporter' of a coin sort of strange but that is another discussion.

As callous as it may sound I am actually less worried about people being scammed then the fact that the forum is getting clogged by spam. Just a few weeks ago the first page of each sub-forum used to be interesting. Now it reads like 9gag. I just think it's sort of sad I guess.

Kinda rich from biggest CNC promoter in btc-e trollbox, one that claims that has 130k of them.

http://trollboxarchive.com/search.php?search_type=username&search=TheSwede75

If I remember good, the guy who launched cnc and never looked back had 7 posts when he announced it.

Quote
TheSwede75   4286996   17 Hours Ago   wolf9466, When I want to dump, you will see it. I have 130k+ CNC, not touching them anywhere close to todays value..

I'll tell you one thing - on the beginning I was very angry on hyper coin production and found it stupid. But after seeing you and others making tons of money on feathers and chinas, I've figured out it's stupid only if I don't make few bucks on them (or if I lose lot).

And that's your single problem with new coins after chinas. More coins, more competition on market so you can't bank as much as you thought you'll do.

But i do agree that inside "Alternate cyyptocurrencies"  there could be a "New coins" section where all these go .

and then leave the front page, that way people could have the front page for ideas.

let them have their scams in that section , just organize it better.

legit [Ann] could go in there as well , but if they are a legitimate idea first then they will have had an idea topic and have broad support instead of just popping out of nowhere, so nothing will be missed.

= no disadvantage to anyone.
