Hi,

Is it importante the CPU power on mining RIG ?

there are some correlation between GPU performance and CPU power ?

thx

My "big rig" ETH miner - 3 x R9 290 - has been running a Sempron 145 (SINGLE core bottom end of the AM3 cpu line) for a long time without issues.
DAG file generation time was a bit on the long side, but not a significant issue when it's working on it "on the fly" while mining the hour or two on the previous DAG file.

I'm no longer legendary just in my own mind!

The more GPUs you have the harder is is on the CPU since most miners assign GPUs to a specific thread of the CPU. Having more threads available spreads that load out more. You also will have more ability to multi-task on that PC if you have a decent CPU (not an issue if it's a dedicated mining rig). Overall though the biggest nuisance we have discovered when using a wimpy CPU (dual core Celerons of the last few generations) is that if you have a 6-7 GPUs installed and want those GPUs split amongst different algorithms automatically upon launching Windows, you run a risk of the PC locking up since the CPU can't handle opening multiple miners at the same time. Overall we will probably only use AM4 setups for future mining rigs if/when we add more rigs to the farm (depends on profitability down the road of course).

You can Buy a Ryzen 7 1700 and mine Monero for Example. EWBFs CUDA ZEC miner uses very, very small amount of CPU for a 6 card rig, around 5%.

Where did you get the CPU for $30?

The gpu is important when you synchronize the blockchain, DAG file will need cpu processor. But a dual core cpu will work fine. I am using i3 cpu for my rigs .

GPU power hashrate is independant from CPU.
Then, you can use the lower CPU you want.
BUT, my advice is to use a middle power CPU (i.e. Core i3) because if one day you want to use your miner to run one or more wallets, especially PoS wallets (24h/7d runing), this CPU mining will be very usefull :-).
