Is a signature campaign like signatures you need to make something legal or is it for something else? I'm very confused.

We are both newbies here but as far as I know signature campaign is a kind of service here where you are asked to carry a signature which basically is a promotion of a certain crypto. Your posts therefore are like promotions. You will be paid for it.

Once you've been around and active on the forum for a while a little area is appended to each of your post where you can put your signature like in an email.
If you wish you can attempt to rent that space out to some advertisers.

Here is a list of those advertisers and links to their rules for participating:

Like in post above is written you can earn from signature campaigns when you rent place in your signature for advertisement. Link to list of sig campaigns that pay only in Bitcoins is also in post above.
But there is many other signature campaigns. Some of them are to promote new altcoin projects, ICO projects (like in my signature right now Wink ), some of them are against scam services. From some of them you can earn cryptocurrencies or tokens, to some of them you can join as volunteer or just believer.

a signature is like an advertisement here in bitcoin talk. like there's a company out there who wants to get known they going to hire you to wear their name and post into different threads here so that there's a high chance that others may see the name you wear.

i'll give you a summary here
Company -> will hire you to wear their name -> you're going to post into different parts of the forum (depends on the rule) -> after 1 week if you reach the min post requirement they're going to pay for wearing their signature campaign. as simple as that.

When you join a signature campaign, you put the company's advertisement in your signature space. Then you spam the site with as many meaningless posts as you can. The more you post, the more you get paid.

Top posters can earn up to a couple dollars per hour. That can be very helpful for a person living in a poor country where they can't earn more than a couple dollars per hour doing real work.

Signature Campaign is one of the best promotional activity running in Bitcointalk. Bitcointalk community has a large amount of user base where they will get awareness about the project. That's why you can see there are many companies when they are launching any ICO means they will start promoting it through Signature Campaign.

Basically like those deals where people get paid by a company to paint their advertisement on the side of their car, and to drive around showing it off to everyone.

Wow, just wow. Your post is overflowing with negativity.
Firstly, you shouldn't encourage newbies to spam, because that can lead them to getting banned. Secondly, do you honestly think that there would be no meaningless posts if there were no signatures? It's up to signature managers to go through people's posts and not pay for such spam.

Top posters can earn much more than a couple dollars per hour. I've seen people make over 10 posts per hour, which in some campaigns can equal $20. This is a fairly high pay in most countries.

Signature campaigns encourage meaningless posts because posters are paid for the quantity of their posts, not for the quality. Only egregious spam might get someone banned. Posters simply state a cursory opinion based on the topic line and then move on to the next one. Signature managers do not have much incentive to discourage spam. They count signatures. They don't have much reason to care about the posts that are attached to them.

I was unaware that companies are paying $2 per post. That seems outrageous, but with all these ICOs paying with investor money, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

You MUST read this topic before planning to join signature campaigns.:

You are absolutely correct.
I think that if more campaigns would have fixed payment rates per round, no matter how many pists user made, it can reduce quantity of spam, because users wouldn't need to make unnecessary posts. Now when majority of campaigns paying per post, many users are trying to make max. allowed number of posts.

Does that claim also apply to forum rank?

From the name itself signature campaign means advertising a campaign with an signature or banner/advertisement like what you see in some websites. To put it simply you need to put/wear the signature code on your account then you need to create good quality content post in order to get paid by the campaign manager. The requirements in joining in depends on the sig campaign itself somtimes you might need a higher rank to join and there times jr.member and member rank. If you want to get accepted by a sig campaign create some good quality content post.

By reading all the answers what I understand is we can make a little amount of money through Signature Campaigns. But at least you have to be full members in order to accept in adding Signature on your profile.

Yes, it does; however, people don't join Bitcointalk to get a high rank, but they do join to make money by posting.

Lot of great answers above, it is a promotional service offered by companies/ICO/websites. You add their signature to your profile after getting accepted and you get paid for it.
