I've always wondered how one does that.
Is it like you can mine 2 coins and you can get the same amount of coins like you would of had when mining the coin seperatly?

I just  use my GPU for scrypt and CPU for yacoin, I get a bit less hashin power for the scrypt coin, but I think I'll earn more overall.

Probably only true because most alt-crypto speculators are dense in the head.

I get Litecoin, first mover after Bitcoin.
I get Namecoin, more or less depends on the success of .bit, could lead to lots of cool stuff.
I get PPCoin, a coin with POS built in.

What else is there to get?

It's just a bunch of clones who's value is tied to the fact that ppl are dumb with money. When the speculators wisen up, the money goes back to Bitcoin. The smart miners are a bunch of fat fucks right now, I'm jealous of them. You know damn well most of them are just trading their alts for a mix of BTC and fiat.

This is to be expected.
With the help of sites like dustcoin or coinchoose, it's very easy to calculate which coin that gives the most profitability.

People mine that coin and then instadump it on the market to get btc.

And there's that Vircurex hacking incident.
The attacker gains root access, and gets vircurex's hot wallet.
I think 30-60% of that stolen alt coin is dumped right now at BTC-E.

LTC : LgmYvXsYXc4xdjsMKXJWqtagxVvioK6iaw

Yep, and thats why I don't like putting my coins on the interwebz.

But I mean, the last few months, many things have gone downhill instead of uphill (in my opinion) with all those scammers/YAC problems/hackers/drying out new coins and so on.
Like 2/3 pools I have mined have gone either offline/stole coins from miners/went south/site down for no reason/no payments.

Probably only true because most alt-crypto speculators are dense in the head.

I get Litecoin, first mover after Bitcoin.

Namecoin was first after Bitcoin. IxCoin followed shortly after, though it was mainly the same as Bitcoin. SolidCoin came a while later, and become the inspiration for LiteCoin's predecessors, GeistGeld etc. LiteCoin's success came not from innovation or first mover status, but arguably PR—coblee capitalized on the SolidCoin controversy at the time.

I get Namecoin, more or less depends on the success of .bit, could lead to lots of cool stuff.

Namecoin's design is arguably flawed, as the cost of a domain does not scale with the demand for domains. After merged mining, Namecoin effectively died out. How many people still use .bit today?

I get PPCoin, a coin with POS built in.

Indeed, PPCoin seems to bring something new. However, that thing is arguably better inserted into Bitcoin than made into an alt-chain.

What else is there to get?

It's just a bunch of clones who's value is tied to the fact that ppl are dumb with money. When the speculators wisen up, the money goes back to Bitcoin. The smart miners are a bunch of fat fucks right now, I'm jealous of them. You know damn well most of them are just trading their alts for a mix of XBT and fiat.

Arguably, Novacoin, Devcoin, etc. bring some new things to the table. I agree, however. I own no alternative cryptocoins because I believe they are all destined for the dumpster.

Nice extra percentage for merged mining too, and that is only showing 3 out of the 7 merged mined coins!

Isn't this .bit business more of long term big picture thing? You're saying it's already run its course and the result is FAIL?

I forgot about Devcoin! Now there's a unique structure.

You just explained it. The hackers are probably dumping the coins and ruining price for all.

Did the hackers get any coins? The DVC that was in my Vircurex wallet is still there.
