I'm not an expert but I think you will have the opportunity to buy bitcoin at 2000$ (maybe less) this month, I will wait about 15 days and buy bitcoin (not large value) at the weekend 22th July, thats just speculation...

2000 dollars or less is a little bit of overkill don't you think ? Prices have been swinging south for a while and we need bitcoins prices to recover next. Experts I need your help,,I am thinking of buying 2-3 bitcoin this month but just wondering if it's a good time to buy or should i wait for the price to drop?

I believe all the prices below $2500 are highly seeming very good prices to enter as long as bitcoin prices are staying above $2100 levels. When $2100 will be breaking, you may get prices like $1800. Hence my recommendation to you if you have still have funds to buy bitcoins : buy one bitcoins now and wait for prices to get stable. If it will touch $2550 you may buy one more else you can buy around $1800.

But all these are for short term target of $2700 to $2800. If you planning for long term targets $5000 then you may buy now and wait.

Anyone who comes with their own "Bitcoin" becomes discreditd in my opinion, like that mining company that said they would mine their own Bitcoin (an AltCoin). Nobody will fall on this trap of people trying to create new Bitcoins to destabilize what was built until now (I hope so). Since many people are involved in Bitcoin exclusively for profits (I don't mean it's bad, I'm just telling how things stand in reality), they don't particularly care which specific "brand" of Bitcoin allows them to earn profits. In this way, saying that nobody will fall in this trap is certainly not what is going to happen in real life provided Bitcoin does get forked, of course (which is not likely now when BIP148 seems to be close to failure). If this alternative Bitcoin shows decent profits, people will use it and no amount of determent or reproach will stop them

But there are many factors at play as well as many players with different agendas, so it is not so much about being economically feasible or viable as about trade-offs between groups of influence. In other words, if there were strong support for UASF, miners (or rather, mining cartel) might have no other option but hard fork Bitcoin and create their own coin. It could well be that they specifically threatened the community with drastic consequences to draw more support for SegWit2x, which is not very good for them, either (from an economic point of view)

Both position for any scenario, whether it is a rally or a revaluation you want to be covered and have money in the exchange and ready for processing when the chaos is occurring if the split is non-negligible.
Otherwise this could just be a non-value change approaching unless this results in sentiment to buy more then it is a good time to invest.

If I were asked for a suggestion, I will be directing the concern person to analyze the market and go on his own decision, because none is sure what is gonna happen within few weeks time as the segwit Aug 1st is getting close. If something good happens people feel relaxed and when something goes beyond expectation people feel bad of going with selling or buying on others decision.

If you sold at peak don't regret, if you sold at dip don't regret. But for me, just believe in bitcoin and keep yourself calm down. Stay away from seeing the charts so that you won't be forced to sell when you are seeing the price of bitcoin falling. And hold on, tight your pocket and don't move your wallet, wait for the price to increase.

i am agree with your said and its better to stay calm with any news we read. i think if we are not panic, we can handle our emotion when we see the chart is down and its better doing another activity while we waiting the next news about the segwit. but if we decide to sell our bitcoin, then we don't need to regret or sad if in next hour or next day the price is increase.

We don't need to panic, there are some people that are just not good as others who are calm and chilling out with what's happening. I was one of those panic seller before but whenever I'm going to sell some of my bitcoins now there's no more regret and I won't blame myself for selling it at not that good price but I've got profit already.

Yeah your right batang bitcoin, we don't need to panic. Because declining of bitcoin price is only a marketing strategies, also I was not worries even segwit. In addition I believe that after segwit there's a lot of opportunity will be open for bitcoin.

deisik -- it is like you expect everything to basically collapse, while you, just like all others here, can only guess and 'voice' your opinion about what potentially might happen. In the same way that people expect everything to go down heavily, the market might as well head up. I have the feeling that you are trying to grab hold on various negative aspects just to make yourself feel better about your positions in Litecoin.

Apart from likely a few very well connected (say, to Jihan and Ver) individuals, and I'm certainly not one of them. If you ask me (which seems to be the case), I'm inclined to think that there is more than we are told or allowed to see. We see that the total majority of miners (including Jihan Wu's Antminer) are kinda signaling their support for SegWit2x. At the same time, Jihan promised to come up with his own Bitcoin. Could he and his puppets withdraw their vote at the last minute and actually fork Bitcoin the hard way? I think they can, and what's most scary in all this, they might be accumulating hashing power right now (and might have been doing so for many months already) to release the kraken when the right time comes and quickly bring the opposing chains down to their knees. This is just one of the many scenarios which I don't think of as completely impossible

I agree, most people are involved in Bitcoin exclusively for profits. But as they don't want to lose money they will be very cautious when they must choose a way to follow. The laymen will follow other's advices, but they will check very well first if that advice is good or not.

When someone wants to split the chain, it's already a negative point for that person (it seems somehow that person is greedy and wants to have more control over the currency, at least for laymen that is what it seems) and his opponents will use it at their favour.

You may be right, but I think it's harder to happen, the most probable to happen is to have the alternative Bitcoins dying or becoming low priced currencies... But I'm open mind person, I don't exclude any consequence.

It's because of my observation on the market of bitcoin and other crypto currencies. It's not always going to fall but there are times that it needs to be sure of and make the circulation healthy. And that's why these type of decrease needs to happen, keep on holding and you'll see in the end that the most patient ones will earn from this.

If some random dudes does just that, no one apart from him alone will use this new "Bitcoin", obviously. On the other hand, if someone like Jihan Wu goes that route the result might be different. He might of course fail in honest competition but in war where all odds are off while all means are fair he might succeed even if not by attracting more users to his side directly but by making the original, genuine Bitcoin unattractive (e.g. by interfering with the transaction processing using his technological muscle). Though right now when SegWit2x is not going to make it this is unlikely

I believe that the price can be drop but only small drop not a drop below $2k value or i think even below $1,800 value  this is just my own speculation
But expect that the price could be increase fast since many investors and traders are waiting for a cheap price even a little bit price drop..
I was wondering that bitcoin will no changes in value after august 1 and i think other bitcoin users will test bitcoin transaction and new segwit feature if it is really help a lot for bitcoin. Instead of price drop the price will increase more high.. so watch out if you sold your bitcoin right now because the other bitcoin users out there they are just want to encourage other people to sell their bitcoin just to buy a new cheap bitcoin..

I have noticed that due to the hard fork speculations, certain people think the value can drop back all the way back to below the $100 mark, where some rookies even think Bitcoin might end up going back to zero.

It clearly shows the sort of people we are dealing with here. It's all blind greed that leads these rookies to nothing but losses. Seriously, these people shouldn't manage their own wealth.

Somehow, I always thought that it is specifically because of these greedy types looking exclusively for profits that Bitcoin got to its current position when 1 coin is worth more than 2,000 dollars. In other words, all this value comes particularly from speculation (and essentially from nothing more). So if Bitcoin is hard-forked, there is plenty of reason to think that Bitcoin is going to lose this value since who is going to speculate with an asset if its value gets halved (that's what forking basically comes down to)? Ironically, it is possible to draw an analogy here between Bitcoin halving, when miners' reward is halved, and Bitcoin forking, when speculators' wealth gets halved. This could be construed as the revenge of the miners

There is no low or high price on their own since it all depends upon where the price is going to trade next, up or down, to the south or to the north. Obviously, if the price is rising, any price today will be low tomorrow and vice versa. Right now it looks like prices are heading down, and that has been a overall tendency for the last month. Well, in fact, the price has been trading in a pretty tight range all this time but with speculative assets like Bitcoin if the price doesn't grow after some (rather short) period of consolidation, it typically goes down. And we are kinda well past that period of time which could be loosely considered as a consolidation phase

Price drop is not likely to happen during the month of August.The split can cause a lot of trouble for a lot of people,so i would suggest you to buy bitcoin now only if you have the guts to do so,because after August 1 nothing can be in your hands.So decide what would be the best for you financially after August 1.
