Dear Newbies, I know and understand that the idea of getting free coins is exciting. However do not let greed overcome your common sense. You might just end up losing your free coins as well as your Bitcoins. After the previous Bitcoin Cash we a number of people lose their coins due to careless, ignorance and hacking. Most of these loses were preventable.

First of all your free coins will remain your, so there's no need to claim them immediately after the fork. Let all the dust settle first, while educating yourself. I honestly worry when I start seeing post with people already asking how to get their Bitcoin Gold coins.
Do not do stupid things like googling/youtubing,"how to export private keys" etc. A lot of newbies fell into this trap in August and ended up landing into phishing websites.
Lastly you are your own bank, noone is responsible for keeping your coins safe but you.

You will need to control your own coins at the time of the fork by holding your coins in a wallet where you hold the private keys. Those wallets include desktop clients like Bitcoin Core, Electrum, and many more but do not include exchanges and other online services. Once the fork passes, there will be instructions on how to split your coins. What you need to do is make sure your coins are in a wallet you control, and then don't send them out until you've read the instructions on how to split your coins.

also note, that some exchanges will stop all bitcoin deposit & withdraw during the first 24 hours of the fork, so users wont have control during the first hours of the fork.

Enjoy your life, one day at a time. Bitcoin Address: 1HrWs3tDzWr13zocV3qP9ENRLgiDuewtsu
