This past week was largely focused on design work for Meme Factory and bringing the new dev teams up to speed and in sync with the rest of the project. Meme Factory continues to be the primary focus, however work is beginning to happen in parallel on the District Registry, a critical component for the ecosystem. Also this past week we released our latest dev update. Coming up this week we will be releasing our 2018 Q2 report.

A common topic of conversation that came up on telegram/slack this past week were questions related to the current, but temporary, carbon voting system. This voting-by-signaling process is being used to decide which districts should be focused on first by the development teams that have signed on to the project. The carbon voting process will be replaced by the District Registry, a Token Curated Registry mechanism, within the coming months. The registry will ensure that prospective marketplaces make use of the district0x Network Token for their district, safeguard the district0x Network from malicious actors which could open the project to legal risks, and will dictate access to the District Staking Interface and a suite of ancillary services designed to maximize network effects and build moats around the district0x Network.

I like this ICO for its long-term potential. There is a lot of potential for DNT value because even if only a few districts become successful, DNT value should appreciate substantially. This is different from other ICOs where they only have one project and token value hinges entirely on the success of that one project. It is going to mitigate the risks compared to most of the other ICOs.
