This morning, in my inbox from more.coffeeee@gmail.com:

Quote
Does you company accept Bitcoin ?

Interested in paying for some advertising ?

We have access to all the email accounts from most of the large bitcoin forums ,

This is your chance to let people know about your bitcoin company ,

Contact us

This was sent to a bare email address, and AFAIK, I've not used a bare address (user@domain.tld instead of user+tag@domain.tld) for Bitcoin stuff so I don't know how this address leaked.

Thought I'd post here to spread awareness of this, as shady spam is likely a scam.

This might not be the best section to post that.

Coingig's ToS say they're based in the US, so they have to comply with CAN-SPAM Act and provide an opt-out that works.

Got a response from Coingig's Twitter:

Quote from: @coingig
@colindean Hi Colin, we are really sorry about that, this won't happen again.

A short exchange ensued. Looks like Coingig had mistakenly used a shady marketing agency.

Let that be a warning, folks - when you hire someone to do your email marketing, you'd best make sure that you've got something in the contract that states that they will comply with CAN-SPAM Act and take financial responsibility for any breach of it.

Coingig's ToS say they're based in the US, so they have to comply with CAN-SPAM Act and provide an opt-out that works.

No their not. Your confusing 2 different names. One has a dash in the middle of the name and its from Edinburgh Scotland and the other is USA.
