I've heard it is very cold in deserts in the nights and a lot of sun in day time.

So that, probably, if you accumulate energy daily you get very cheap electricity with solar panels.
And if you run mining rigs only in the night when there is no cooling problem, it will be profitable enough in the end?

Unfortunately we aren't like the sahara in that aspect.
We have seasons and at night in the summer its still warm outside.
That being said I think that math would only work if you pay more for power then you mine, as long as you mine more then your power cost (including cooling and so forth) there is no reason to turn them off. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong and missing something.

But you are right with the solar for sure we have an average of 330 days of sun per year

The profitable mining generally is a place where the electricity costs is next to be negligible so that you can save on the one of the most important cost factor while mining. Then is your equipment cost, space if you take it on rent, then the difficulty level as it will only increase etc will decide the return on investment.

I wonder what kind of regulatory pressure this might create in Canada; seems like a good idea if you have enough rigs to justify the real estate opportunity cost.
