Hi there -- long time listener, first time caller.

As a developer, I've been doing a lot of reading and testing on Ethereum over the last few months.  The idea of smart contracts is a great addition to the evolution of crypto-currencies and I am fully supportive, however there are many issues of scaling which are still being addressed by the community.  I believe Ethereum's scaling pains surfaced with some recent ICOs.  Transactions queued up, many would be buyers were left in the dark, and it just left a sour taste in people's mouths.  Probably a temporary dip IMHO, as these scaling limitations were and are well known, so really no new information came to light.

Of course, it could just be profit taking and selling pressure.  As a trader (I mainly trade commodity futures), I will oftentimes see big dips in the price on no news.  Crude oil has been taking a beating lately, for example, and there are many intraday dips where many levels of the book are wiped out just because some whale decides it's time to sell.  Hard to predict, hard to explain.  Just part of the game.

Of course this is just a temporary set back and is normal with altcoins. Eth has a good foundation and a good team so same as btc, indon't have any reason to doubt that it will definitely bounce back. The more good reason now for eth supporters to buy.

the price will be back normal like before like you said. but for now, i think we will see the hard situations which almost altcoin is down too deep. we can see that not just eth is down, but the other coins have the same situation, all we can do is make backup buy order or just waiting for a while and later we can see the price is getting up again.

It caused by those fucking flippers try to bloat the ethereum network, and it contains more transaction. The network can validate the transaction for fast and the more transaction gets stuck in the ethereum network. The flippers must be stopped.

It's a market correction and also those projects which received the ICO funds have to cash out to fiat to be of use.

Three reasons.

1. People were flipping out of Bitcoin into Eth as Bitcoin scaling dispute just drew on and on - now Segwit 2x will activate, scaling is solved, people are flipping back. This is the most important reason.

2. Ether developers often stuck their money loving fingers into numerous what I consider to be semi-fraudulent ICO offerings (I'm not saying fraudulent as I don't want to be sued for defamation). All that Eth raised by the clever and quick in these ICOs does not want to stay in Eth, it wants to go to USD, so there's constant sell pressure to convert Eth raised in ICOs into USD.

3. There was an altcoin bubble and it's over. The whole market save Bitcoin is significantly correcting down after a huge run up.

As if only ETH drops its current price drastically. As you can see, not only ETH is affected, big names are also heavily affected  this week. Almost all coins in top 100 crypto are being pushed down, I am expecting this til next month.
