I've just acquired the domain name BitcoinVirus.com. I didn't think there was such a thing, but the term seems to be being used to describe the ransomeware viruses that are demanding Bitcoin payments. Is this the case? or is there such a thing as a real Bitcoin virus?

I've personally never even heard of that term and I don't think it's used very often, even for ransomware.
You've also got virusses/trojans that focus on getting access to your desktop wallet or replace bitcoin addresses in your clipboard to an address of the hacker.

Good that someone from our community took that domain. Now please direct it to a page saying that ransomwares aren't Bitcoin's fault and that more fiat than Bitcoin is used for crime.

Maybe that would be possible to have certain term called real bitcoin virus because other virus programmers will link into terrorism just for the sake of money, and their personal intentions just to be famous. For me this is the best idea for now diverting for that name of a domain bitcoinvirus.com, which is not so familiar and so tricky to think like people wonder whether it's a virus or not. Well let's just ride on this kind of idea and I don't see any negativities about this and beyond that, some mis interpretation will come out but suddenly it will be broke up and eventually regain proper understandings to those who does not.

Reading your post's title I thought there was some kin of malware with bitcoin ! If you bought a domain that was used for ransomware and stuff, that's good, atleast that one ransomware will stop!

you could use your domain to list all viruses that affects Bitcoin somehow like ransomwares, botnets, wallet stealers, etc .. it could be some kind of 'virustotal' for the bitcoin community ;-)

I disagree. You cannot consider or treat the copy-paste changer or whatever do you call it, as a Bitcoin virus. It does not ring the bell or it does not have the appeal. It is just a simple trojan or a malware that changes the copied address on the clipboard. A real Bitcoin virus for my point of view is a virus that will target and attack the Bitcoin technology itself and not an individual user.

Yes, the copy and paste virus wherein if you copy a bitcoin address but once you paste to your sending address, it will changed.

At least put the domain in good used. Educate people about the virus like copy and paste or even the WannaCry and Petya if I'm not mistaken. Tell him how not get hijack by this virus. Goodluck to you mate.

Great idea!  Use it for a chance to educate the dummies by explaining that Bitcoin can and will be used for good purposes and not all crypto currency is used for evil!  Whatever you do, beware of who you sell it to if ever te domain is sold.

Thanks for the supportive comments guys. I do intend to keep the name, and use it as an information site. I will also use it for my own political purposes. My position in the matter is -
I'm anti deep state
I believe that cash, fiat transfers and gold are used for more criminal activities than Bitcoin
I believe in Bitcoin as a store of wealth, and a payment method for reasonable sized transaction, and that micro-transactions should be moved onto side chains
I'm anti viruses and other malware.

I think I will use the site to explain the security of Bitcoin transactions, and to provide links to pages explaining how to remove malware.
It might also be useful to include ways to secure wallets.

I'm ambivalent about the idea of introducing a method of forensic analysis to try to capture the criminals using Bitcoin. I'd like to see them detected and punished, but I'd also like to keep the Bitcoin store of wealth out of the hands of the Deep State.

I'll try to put a site together over the next few days, and I'd be grateful for some guidance and help from BT members.

When it comes to Bitcoins, it's not a simple virus that requires ransom from other people. It is a pretty smart virus, it enters your computer and executes a transaction, it sends all the money back to the wallet that has been memorized. It is extremely dangerous for everyone.
