I had gotten all kinds of excited when I saw this (USB powered?  Can use on my laptop?  WIN!).  But then I took a better look at the hashrate, and then compared that to the hashrates that are being generated by people with more cash and/or better equipment.  Sure, this is good for someone just coming into BTC and looking to get their feet wet, however for the price that they are asking, I'd rather just buy LTC outright and work my way from there.

Now if they (or another developer) could come up with a similar device that would be more affordable, then I would be all over it like wolves to raw steak.

Why are people comparing these to GPU's when, unlike GPU's, these are ready to plug-and-play? I personally think that these USB ASIC's are the key to easing people into the world of Bitcoin mining. My colleagues and I are developing a similar product as we speak.

Hope what you and your cohorts come up with is more affordable than this.  I'll certainly keep an eye out for it.

compared to other asic miner, I agree, it's totally overpriced.

But compared to gpu or fpga, it's getting interesting. Low power consumption,... and when I'm looking on ebay for an used 5870... well...

$200 for 350Mh/s, seems legit. Just do some quick math -ok, makes almost 2 dollars a day. Sounds gr-Wait..

I noticed the value of mined work seemed to decline by ~10% over the last month. At least, according to the http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ tool.

My ASICMINER USB Erupter showed up about an hour ago.
Been playing with the Icarus timing settings still not quite got it right yet.

Obviously yes I'm getting around 300MH/s out of it.

Currently best settings are for anyone wondering while I sort it out:
 --icarus-options 115200:2:1 --icarus-timing short

These are real and already being tested in Australia.

If you were in the market to upgrade your GPU miner(s), this is the only way to go if for immediate upgrade. Your alternative is paying 50BTC for an ASICMINER Blade Erupter (10GH/s).

I think everyone is missing the point about the power consumption too...it's only 2.5 watts per 300 Mhs guys..whats the power draw on these GPUs you keep spouting off about?

I will agree the price seems a bit extreme but none of us have any idea what went into developing these boards..is it so bad to seek a profit for your hard work? The work that went into developing these was surely harder than using one
