First thing I get in my email this morning is that my C-Cex password has been changed. I've never used C-Cex before so who cares. I went to see if maybe I signed up way back in the day so I reset my password again. The brand new password won't work. I tried resetting it again. It doesn't work. I try to open a ticket and it says the captcha is wrong. I try to do anything and the website is down for "5-7 minutes of maintenance" (which so far has lasted 10hours.).

What the hell am I supposed to do now? I just want them to close my (non existent) account so they don't get screwed over from some hacker. I have nothing to lose there so I really don't care. I'd just rather not get these emails every single time their crappy exchange gets hacked. It seems to be every 3-6 months I get another email.

I have a secure system and I'm not getting hacked so I know C-Cex is getting hacked. My password was very long and random and never reused. I'd appreciate if anyone knows how I can get my account closed without opening a ticket since even that doesn't work on their site lol.

The official way is by contacting the support team at support@cex.io

However, if you open the linked page and view the comments at the bottom you will find most of them are requests to close accounts. You could try posting a request in a comment there, and contact support if that doesn't work.

i don't understand 1 thing, you say you never had any account in c-cex and never used it and then say your password is strong and long! you had a c-cex account or not!!!

anyways, you can find the owner on bitcointalk if you want, they have a topic here and the account name is c-cex.

also consider the possibility that you received a phishing email if you didn't have a c-cex account! don't click on any of its links you may have infected your computer if you did...

@HI-TEC
c-cex.com and cex.io are two different exchanges.

Are you 100% sure you landed on the original c-ex website? There is a strong possibility that it was a phishing email and you landed on a phishing page and put the username/password. In this case, if you don't have any c-ex account then nothing to worry much, but if you had one, you might have passed your credentials Roll Eyes

Spot on. Except this won't explain why the c-cex website(the actual one, not the phishing one) was down. I'm sure that OP would have noticed when he typed in the URL himself, unless he typed the url wrong as well.

It's back up for me now but loading extremely slowly.

OP, just for security change all your passwords right now. There is still a probability that you received a phishing email. Did you use a password on the c-cex site that you use on any other accounts? If yes, then especially hurry up and reset all your passwords right now.

Theres no other possible way but just only on contacting their support since they do have the power to close such account. By the way if that account doesntt have any funds then better not should be bother at all. You are just stressing yourself out regarding on this thing. The link has been given above already by other member so theres no need to repeat. Good luck and hope you would contact them asap.

Just stay calm and I know the site CCEX can help you with that anoying thing of accessimg your account. If it will not be resolved, maybe there is a deeper problem about it; so you should fix everything before it's too late. Have some conversations with the admins of the site and I am confident that you will be attended with their better services. Changing passwords should be exactly linked through registered mail in order to avoid conflicts.

Just let it go since you have nothing to lose. It makes no sense to waste your precious time on something so insignificant as a shit coin exchange.

If you have never used cex.io than you wouldn't have account so I think the email you got is fake email (it's very easy to create and check every email in future to get rid of that). And there is no doubt link would be phishing or something etc, mostly captchas and etc don't works on phishing websites to believe customer that they are using right site and there are some problems.
If you had one in past, then as it was mentioned, contact support.

Quote for reference.

Of course you can't login as you said that's a non exist account.
Password, brand new password and captcha won't work either.
If I were you, I won't waste my time trying to prove that fake account instead of delete all of those emails which could be a phishing method.

We do not need to contact the site owner about the issue persisting the site. There may be any bug or exception passing in the site. Dynamic usually won't pass any issue. If it has happen may be a crawler error spike in the site or any updation is being process in the site. Please check the with the support team and proceed with the owner.

Exactly this is something that would have happened because c-cex I know is one of the reputable sites I know and I don't expect them to be that careless in sending mail to a nonexistent user. I have received mail like this but most from purported bank mail that my ATM has been deactivated and I need to activate it but checking the mail will show its just scammers which could equally be the case of OP here.

Who are you to decide for people who to contact and who not? Contacting through the links I posted might actually speed things up big time as support tickets take an awful lot of time to settle.

C-cex is fine with me even it goes freezing sometimes. I guess due to massive traffic they are unable to handle requests. I remember last weeks I did get error messages of page cannot be displayed too but I after after some 30 to 45 minutes it worked well for me. Their support also very nice always. My tickets got answered and closed within 12 hours of time too. C-cex is old and nice exchange till date. I am not seeing any trouble with them and I am highly recommending them before poloniex too.

I will advise you contact their customers care in other to get a first hand solutions for this problem and also to alerts them about their system been possibly hacked. I do withdraw my earning the day before yesterday and it was fast and easy! I think the problem you are having currently is a hacked issue and the early c-cex attend to this the better.

If you don't have any account with C-CEX then there is no need worrying because some one is sending spam emails in order to hack other details of you. Better be careful with all these tricks. There are many people trying to track all your details and collect all your Bitcoin.

I'm 99% sure that's a phishing attempt. I've been getting flooded every single day from various sites claiming my password has been reset and to "Click here!", among many sites I've never even heard of claiming my withdrawal is ready to be processed or (insert scam statement here) to try and goad into clicking.

My experience says that it is the latest way of advertising a website, so if this is the case then you really need to forget about such stuff and get back to your work .
