User legendster claims to be an exotic car broker representing an unnamed friend in the USA.

1. legendster makes a claim of having recently sold a car for $36,000 in an "offline sale" (the car is a 911 Porsche turbo with California (US) plates -- user lives in India).
2. legendster offers us a series of photos of exotic cars he is currently offering in this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195234.msg2107280#msg2107280
3. legendster posted a photo of an Aston Martin with visible licence plate here:https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/560832_523780937656648_1588410876_n.jpg, making the match to images here: http://teamspeed.com/forums/automobiles/70436-2006-aston-martin-db9-volante-black-black-scottsdale-az.html irrefutable. The match proves photos presented by legendster are harvested from the web, having no other connection to legendster.

While the scam is absurdly juvenile and obvious on its face, and the odds of legendster successfully scamming anyone are laughable, mere presence of such low-grade cons on the Marketing/goods forum casts a shadow on the legitamacy of Bitcointalk.org as a reasonable place to conduct commerce.  User legendster has been accused of scamming by several users within just the thread i've linked to above.  User legendster is a Hero Member.  Though "Hero Member" does not actually denote trustworthiness,  the wording unquestionably implies it to new users. It's time to give legendster  a scammer tag.

MODS:  Even if you think it's a 13yr-old boy, and i'd say that's more likely than not, don't let these forums become a known hangout where 13yr-old boys can hone their scamming skilz.  Without fearing anything, not even a scammer tag, when they're caught.

2. I DID NOT SELL THAT CAR. My friend BROKERED IT FOR HIS CLIENT !

3. Go back to the post & see the source of the Pic.

4. There should probably be a "Troll Accusation Board" so I can post your and some other member's names there.

I do not think legendster is a scammer or trying to scam (this is my understanding based on limited knowledge, please take with a grain of salt), but is certainly very misguided, and needs a reality check for his behavior if he wants to get any footing on any kind of business.

I don't believe that he is a scammer.

He has crude methods and is a bit aggressive, and may need to tone it down a notch.

I saw those posts when he had made them and it seemed like his intention was to act as a middleman for someone in Cali who has a dealership.

That is my opinion on this.

I'd do it. I'd remove this sig. I have two of the most reputed Indians Indians who have (sort of) vouched for me NOT being a scammer.

Henchman has served his purpose. He has been humiliated. I am now not a scammer Smiley

But changing my sig wont change me, I might find some new prick picking on me to be annoying enough so I'd put his name down there.

But for now yes I'd change the sig Smiley

1. AGENT for a broker in California, I collect contacts & forward it to him, so if I disclose the name the would be 'contacts' would directly contact him instead of me Smiley

Please don't pretend to be an idiot or take me for one.
Definition of Broker, from M.W. online dictionary:

1 : one who acts as an intermediary: as
a : an agent who arranges marriages

The title of your thread is "Buying/Selling Exotic Cars (Through Broker)"  But you're not the seller.  Or the broker.  You're a ... broker for a broker?  Seems borked to me.

EDIT:  English is not my native language either -- don't bother with the race card.

2. I DID NOT SELL THAT CAR. My friend BROKERED IT FOR HIS CLIENT !

You had nothing to do with that car, I get it. Why spam trading boards with pointless graphics?

3. Go back to the post & see the source of the Pic.

I did.  What's your connection to Le Cruze Exotics (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Le-Cruze-exotics/132800936743624)?
L.C. Exotics? (a cropped & shopped logo of Le Cruze Exotics, different Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/pages/LC-Exotics/115837658461483)?
Why did you try to blur out the account name in the pic you posted?  Why didn't you bother to check if your image could be mined for personal info & leave it in the screencap for me to find?

I do not think legendster is a scammer or trying to scam (this is my understanding based on limited knowledge, please take with a grain of salt), but is certainly very misguided, and needs a reality check for his behavior if he wants to get any footing on any kind of business.

Hello.
If you have a few minutes to spare, the thread in question (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=195234.0) is worth reading, though i should warn you:  It reads like a lampoon of public perception of Bitcoin economy.
If i'm to give legendster (facebook:  Legend King) the benefit of doubt, this sums up his business plan:

  • "Like" an "exotic cars broker" (in other words, another user like himself) on Facebook
  • Broker the cars brokered by that user by pasting large images in trading/goods forum
  • ? ? ?
  • PROFIT!

While trying to disprove my claim that his business model was based on harvesting random car images from the web, legendster posted a screen capture.  This screen capture included a date, 2011.  It also included a blurred-out Facebook account name & did not include a link to the original image.  It did include an area of the screen which *did* contain user names: Both legendster's (facebook:  Legend King) and Facebook: Le Cruze, linking to L.C. -- both pages created by either young auto exotica fanciers, or ... ?

None of this is proof positive of legendster's scamming.  I think you'll agree that a scammer has to be exceptionally daft as the mods get exceptionally lucky for such proof to exist.
That's the very reason legendster attracted my attention:  he epitomises the worst of public misconceptions of Bitcoin trading:  Vacuous, smoke-and-mirrors fronts, backed by shifty "used car salesmen" who lay quasi-legal internet traps for unsuspecting marks.

What's worse, existence of such amateurish scams on these boards highlights just how low the bar is set for budding Bitcoin scammers.

Thank you for answering.

I don't believe that he is a scammer.

He has crude methods and is a bit aggressive, and may need to tone it down a notch.

I saw those posts when he had made them and it seemed like his intention was to act as a middleman for someone in Cali who has a dealership.

That is my opinion on this.

Hello.
If you read legendster's reply to my accusation, you'll see that he has mislead you on both accounts:
  • He admits that he's not a middleman (broker), rather making a vague claim of "having a friend in US"
  • His "US friend" is not a dealer.  Legendster currently claims his mysterious US friend is "a broker."  Legendster claims to having met this friend on Facebook.  In another post he vehemently denies having met this friend on Facebook.  When confronted with this contradiction, legendster retorts with (loosely): "I'm only human, we all make mistakes, lolz!"
Thank you for taking the time to answer.

I cannot defend him as it is obvious that even I am not 100% sure of his RL identity. But that is the beauty of Bitcoin, no one cares about RL identities, but they do worry about risks.

What happens if you try to buy a car from him and it turns out that he does have a connection with the chappy selling those cars?

This does not look like a scam, it is a badly advertised and ill connected business that has been defended very badly by legendster.

I agree 100% with shibaji on legendsters behavior. I do not agree with the race card being played here. It had nothing to do with the fact that he is Indian. It started only because of a demanding tone for a loan which obviously was rejected. And he has been blaming it on stereotype statements about India.

Legendster may not be a scammer, but is definitely good at digging his own grave Smiley. I cannot see how he can penetrate the community post this without laying down heavy collateral or agreeing to high interest rates.

So Mr.R is my real life friend, lets say more of a professional acquaintance.
Mr.R posts this picture of a very beautiful and expensive car on his fb cover shot with him in it.
I ask him is it yours where did you get it ?
He said he bought it with his own money that he earned.
I didnt believe I asked for proof, he introduced my to Mr.B by tagging him & Mr.B said yes he is an international car broker and he got him that car in finance.
Time went by i found Mr.B has a number of 'rich' people and agents/owners of various showrooms on his friends list who interact with him almost on weekly basis.
I eventually came to believe that this guy Mr.B is legit and after I saw another picture of Mr.R with his family in that car he bought.

So, you are basing this on a future hypothesis that he may expose someones identity?
Exposing an identity when requested not to, is a bad business practice, not a scam.

I do not think that anyone who has the BTC to buy a car will not indulge in due diligence before they trade with legendster.

As per the post on How to spot a scammer (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=137288.0), he seems to fit just 1 criterion. The second criteria mentioned below is just for lulz.

Quote
1. New account (usually created within the last 3 months, plus or minus)
8. Any user blatantly claiming to be female

I am sure that this will be investigated further and will decide an outcome, but I do not think it will be a scammer tag. Let us also not forget that he has not scammed anyone yet.

Am not taking sides, but I see a lot of this discussion coming about due to a non alignment of people rather than an actual problem.

You are an opportunist, Yes I complimented you. Who knows maybe you are a SCAMMER in the making, all I know is that i wont forget this and the lesson I learned about not hurrying into things.

7. You have Successfully disclosed the NAME of my BROKER friend. You have not proved ANYTHING about me being a scammer.
Wrong.  You have successfully disclosed the name of a facebook account which belongs to you or a scammer just like you.  See my reply in your car dealin' thread.

Whatever you say holds no ground as you have NO PROOF against me, or about this being fake.

If you have read (if you can read) closely, I started that thread as a discussion thread asking for suggestions, tips and inputs, from community members to provide, for the things required to make this as legitimate as possible.

PLEASE Enlighten the people oh lord of DUMBFUCK IDIOTS, how ill I scam someone if I am not taking their MONEY >Huh

8. I have clearly mentioned in previous posts that I have merely re posting what "vercetti" has already posted, I have limited access and limited reshare rights.
You have clearly edited your posts after people have called your bluff.

Oh is that it now ? i have edited my posts ? Seriously you cant answer me toe to toe on this ? Come on !! is this the best you can do ??
hahahahaah  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Since you are at it, please show me WHICH POSTS I have edited ?

because the people that have replied to all my posts are still there & they can VERIFY which posts are edited or not.

Seriously, donate your home, buy a donut & roam the streets of rome naked, thats a better way to spend life for a person like you.

9. You are an Idiot. Hence read this AGAIN !!

I am human I make grammatical errors as well. Atleast this level of attention to every slight detail in my post gives me an impression that EITHER you really have nothing to do OR you are really that interested.

I have not MET this person on Facebook like you meet a normal person : You search them you add them or you play games together.

Lets create Assumed names so its clear for you to understand :
Lets call my Car broking friend Mr.B the person that I know in person & who introduced me to him Mr.R.

Get the difference ?

No, you'll have to try again Cheesy  This "Mr. R," who becomes "Mr. B" lower in your quote, is actually "Mr. Vercetti" Huh Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy  Fail!

Mr. B = Broker = Vercetti.

OFFCOURSE I did not want to link to Vercetti directly, My mere purpose of gaining 'Profit' is by sharing contacts with him & making sure MY CONTACTS go to him THROUGH ME ! Why else would he pay me any commission if someone directly contacted him instead of me.
So you want me to think you're a total idiot with no grasp of anonymous business transactions?  Who'll leak my identity all over the web if i deal with you?  Or are you a slightly more sophisticated scammer offering me another layer of bullshit to wade through?

The Idea IS to SHARE information, there is nothing hidden here, any buyer/seller would be dealing through Vercetti hence they will see his id/docs etc there will be NOTHING that is obscured, we are not trying to sell you a BFL/KNC unit here.

I tried my best to NOT reveal his identity to trolls and (probable scammers) like you, its pricks like you who fucked me over.

Nah, just pretty bad at what you do -- scamming.  Try digging ditches? Cheesy

Nooo, I'll try dig your forum grave. I might fail but I'll try Smiley Count on it.

Since we agree that he may not be a scammer, you may want to consider adding a disclaimer on the thread title as well.

Cheers!

+1

This guy is the same as you.
He does not know me, he has never met me, but he has chosen to be a little bit more compassionate, a little bit more polite & open minded. Thats what sets him apart, thats why he's in a different league than the likes of "crumbling cake dicks" and "Tom the cage cat" he is here to BRING btc to his country and NOT try & be the Troll King. (that reminds me I have to play Dota2 Grin )

He has seen facts and has not accused me pointlessly, he has criticized me, but look at the way he handed it out,
Learn from him.
