It may fork on Aug. 1 or it may not. But it will not really become two bitcoins, rather a new version will become the one and only bitcoin and the other occurrence will be something else. If there is a true split, a hard fork, then you will have to make some decisions. If nothing happens or a soft fork happens you really don't have to do anything.

probably you are talking about "SegWit2x"  . Let's wait and see if two versions can come out.

The only thing that can happen is Bitcoin Cash, but that is just considered an altcoin, and everyone seems to be planning to dump it, even big chinese miners aren't jumping on this boat:

Yeah, for the most part, I think we have averted the hard fork, but there is still a tiny chance that hard fork may still happen. BIP91 is locked in so it's very unlikely for hard fork to happen but you never know the miners.

Yeah, for the most part, I think we have averted the hard fork, but there is still a tiny chance that hard fork may still happen. BIP91 is locked in so it's very unlikely for hard fork to happen but you never know the miners.

As long as the miners keep to their words, then we are already on the way to the moon and i guess we should start looking forward to the bullish trend in value of bitcoin. BIP91 eventually saved the day! Hopefully the day remains like that without any set of miners (no offence!) coming to disrupt all these joy.

I think there is a possibility that we could see a version without segwit ,which is bitcoin cash which is already launched but i am not sure about a network split as all the opposing figures might join bitcoin cash and will let the BIP 148 to follow and i hope we wont have any difficulties in implementing it.

Yes, due to activation the split in not likely to happen now but I believe it may happen later, I read something about that on the Internet. At least, there are other more complicated things that have to be done. As stated on coindesk: "BIP 91 will activate at block 477,120. Theoretically, mining pools will start rejecting blocks that do not signal support for SegWit (BIP 141)." - if too many blocks are rejected, they form a different currency, right?

Bitcoin cash is definitely going to split from Bitcoin (they already started trading, so at this point there's hardly any way back), question being whether it'll  be a meaningful fork or just end up being essentially yet another alt coin.

I think bip 91 takes place. But as what you have been asking they said before that because of bip 141 bitcoin will split into two like just what has been happen on eth and eth classic i think. There is less possibilities for bitcoins to split after the implementation of Segwit. All true bitcoin lovers and experts know that a tremendous increase in the value of bitcoins will be observed in the last weeks of August. Only haters or noobs can talk about split. i'm with you on this one, there will not be two bitcoin no matter what will happen, but there will be a new main chain if an hard fork happen and the majority of miners go to that fork, but i do fear mostly a 51% attack if the majority want to get rid of the smallest chain, this is more dangerous than a chain split, and no one is talking about this

Actually we can say that it is rumors. If you are talking about split so it is totally wrong bitcoin is just maintaining there speed and hiring new technology that the confirmation speed will be faster than before. So that's the story if you are talking about 2 other coins it is totally wrong idea which you have mentioned in a post. Because there is nothing happen like that.
