Anyone here using a renewable source of energy for mining? like solar, wind or other sources not from an electric company? Is  it profitable excluding the initial investment just for the daily returns alone.

There are many miners that depend on solar energy for powering their rigs, but they have their equipment set up already, so that didn't have to pay any extra for solar service.
Moreover, with the current difficulty, a dollar a GPU a day is what you'll be getting on average and it won't even come close to break even your rig in a year or so, let alone your investment in solar equipment.
