How do I encrypt the wallet?  The option is greyed out?

What am I missing here?

There are definitely plans to enable encryption in the swing wallet. But it is not a swing wallet issue. It is a zen software issue.

We already talked about this, ZCash Team will working on it, and we will inherit solution.

Hi @zz0412 , wallet encryption was disabled before launch, since we could not be fully confident in the security of this feature. See issue #1552 for more info. We've been working on improving the encryption scheme--to check out an open pull request, see #1983

Our wallet encryption feature isn't working well enough to launch with, atm. We're going to disable it so users aren't confused into using an unstable feature.
This temporarily mitigates #1528.

We inherited wallet encryption from Bitcoin, where the transparent addresses are stored unencrypted in the wallet (so incoming transactions can be identified) but the private keys are stored encrypted (so funds cannot be spent without the master key). We have extended this to shielded addresses: we store z-addrs and their viewing keys unencrypted, and z-keys encrypted. This ensures that wallet encryption maintains the same semantics - someone with the wallet.dat but not the master key can detect transactions belonging to the wallet, but not spend any funds.

i still didnt manage to spend some coins from a wallet with direct mined coins..i will try spending the equivalent of a block to see if it works

However ZEN will be available for Ledger soon. (hardware wallet)

Hello zuzuca,

When you directly mine coins on your node, you need to shield the coins by sending all of the mined coins (less the fee) to a z-address on your node.

This will then allow you to send to other t-addresses or z-addresses

Secure Nodes will be operational in October or November of this year. Once they are deployed, ZenCash will be the most useful and reliable cryptocurrency available for private and anonymous transactions and messaging.

ZenCash is a platform for secure communications and for deniable economic activity. It is an evolution of the Zcash codebase aimed at primarily enabling secure communications and resilient networking. As a platform it enables secure global messaging, persistent file storage, and private economic activity.

Zero-knowledge encryption allows for private economic activity where the recipient, sender, and amount of activity is kept confidential.

ZenCash extended Bitcoin with fully anonymous shielded transactions, so that users can
choose between normal Bitcoin-like addresses (t-addresses) or shielded addresses resistant
to traffic correlation analysis (z-addresses).

T transactions
T transactions are the traditional blockchain-recorded transactions controlled by a private
key in a wallet. These are derived from Bitcoin, and enable rapid compatibility with
exchanges, wallets, and other Bitcoin-derived ecosystem applications.

 Z transactions
These are transactions sent to shielded addresses, as inherited from Zcash and Zclassic.
Balances in shielded addresses are private. If spending to one or more shielded addresses,
the value stays private but any transparent addresses on the receiving end will deshield the
token and reveal the value received on the blockchain. The input shielded addresses and
whether the value was sent from one or two of these remains confidential when deshielded.
