There's no extraordinary reason required for something like this to happen. Almost all coins now are starting to rise again because bitcoin's price is a bit stable now, so those people who earned big profit from the huge price increase are now back investing in different altcoins again.

Ripple has been in the market for quite some time and I'd like to believe that investors are considering it as one of their chosen alts in line with ethereum. It's one of those promising alts that is only waiting for their turn to head the market. Like bitcoins nature it will fluctuates depends on the demand it earns so we should not be surprise because this pump is a normal activity for all crypto currencies

I think it's because they locked some of the company token, making the circulating supply less than before thus driving the price up and the fact that coinbase is going to list it is huge because a lot of people that are new to crypto are using coinbase as their first exchange so there's going to be more demand later.

not neglecting all the things they are doing and their plans, we have seen increase in nearly all altcoins - like someone said, majority of it is coming from media exposure about cryptocurrencies and the FOMO. if you start researching cryptocurrencies, ripple does seem like an interesting thing to invest to, with all the amex mentions and stuff

don't get me wrong i don't think that this is a bad project, i support all their hard work..but we are in an era of "unexplainable occurrences"
