Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Hi all,

I just discovered this coin and think it`s amazing! Could you explain how it works with the 7% interest? Do I need to do anything or just need to have the coins in my wallet? I know from currencies like Peercoin, that you need to have your PC switched on all the time and "mint", is that necessary here as well?

Hi HaeckiPeteng,

Thanks for sharing you excitement!

The 7% interest is annual, important to note. You only need to hold your EverGreenCoin in an unlocked and fully synced wallet, yes. Just like Peercoin, yes. "Mint" is synonymous with "stake". You do not need to have your PC on all the time, no. But do so at least once per month. More often will increase the frequency of installments towards your 7% annual, but they will be smaller in amount, always totaling 7% annual. Staking does help the network and that help is appreciated.

We have more information at https://evergreencoin.org/faq/ , should that be helpful.

Welcome to EverGreenCoin!

Hallo dev, td you say that 7% interest is annual, it is important to note. You just have to hold your EverGreenCoin in an unlocked and fully synchronized wallet, yes. Just like Peercoin, yes. "Mint" is identical to "stock". You do not need to have your PC any time, no. But do it at least once per month. I think that one month's time is long enough. Is the time as long as it is not too risky for us to monitor the success rate of this project? thank you

But how is it possible to keep the wallet unlocked and switch off the PC? My peercoin wallet always needs to be unlocked for minting after I restarted my PC/the wallet, so I assumed it has to be on for a whole year and that would not be worth it, right?

It is not possible to have your wallet running, locked or unlocked, with your PC off, No. Of course not, you're correct in that.

You do not have to leave it on nor staking all year or all the time your computer is running, No. But it could sit in the background running all the time if you choose, yes. This way you are always synced and always helping the EverGreenCoin network.

It would be worth it, Yes. Depending on your balance. But so would staking once a month or less often.

Sorry if I miscommunicated any of the above.

Stake when it is convenient for you or stake all the time. Thank you for doing so, but the decision to "how often?", is yours. Your installments will adjust to gaps in time.

Sorry if I misunderstand but, there are resources to help you gauge past success. We have some listed, https://evergreencoin.org/markets/market-analysis/

As with any investment, never risk more than you can afford and always make informed decisions. If you are new to investing or uncertain, start small.

You're welcome. I hope I have understood and answered your question.

Any synopsis of the latest hangout?

BTW, looks like a nice, smooth, upward trend in value for EGC.

YEP... all part of the puzzle and fun, trying to figure this stuff out.

Probably due to some hard working, determined folks around here.

Hi Kyle,

The meeting was only James and I. We discussed the plans and progression for the first IEO install, slated for this month. Crippling winter weather has slowed some things and one contractor for some of the needed brackets is having delays. We have options for the brackets however. If the first contractor is unable to make them, we have a second lined up that can get them done with very little notice.

James and I discussed plans for Earth Day also. It would be nice if we grew the trees ourselves, but given the timing, that will not be an option for this year. Perhaps next year we will be able to grow and sell them ourselves. Even selling them via the marketplace with a portion (50%? 100% plus bounty?) refunded via the paid bounty when the purchaser provides pictures of the planting. But, given not all participants will live in the same region, this might not be feasible for all. This year, people will have to provide the tree they plant themselves. At this time, it sounds like $10 worth of EGC will be the bounty paid when people provide pictures. The same rules apply as last year, needing an EGC logo in the picture. The biggest difference in the rules will be limiting it to one bounty per person. We are aiming to have at least 1000 tress planted in the name of EGC this spring. These rules are not 'concrete' as of yet, but soon will be. Anyone with opinions, as always, are invited to share them.

The most exciting news, hands-down, is the partnering with Pi-Supply.com to deliver production of the EGC Solar Stakers. Mike and I are in daily communication with Pi-Supply. It is progressing quickly. Pi-Supply, as a Raspberry Pi supplier and distributor, has many resources. All of these resources are now at our disposal to deliver a finished product. As of now, I can tell you, it will be a Raspberry Pi Zero device married with Pi Juice components. It will be branded with the EGC logo on the case. The case will not be waterproof, but people could easily make it waterproof with some silicon or even some tape. A waterproof case is being developed but, that will wait for a future model. Pi-Supply.com is very eager to work with us, are very communicative, and we can not thank them enough for their expertise. They bring many advantages to the table. For example, Pi Zeros have a strict one-per-customer limit enforced by the Raspberry Pi Foundation. As a distributor, this becomes a non-issue. Mike's contributions are absolutely invaluable to this. If one person can be thanked, it should be him.

The school desk's for the refugee camp are halfway funded. The shirts are due to arrive soon. Those interested in the progression, please follow updates on https://evergreencoin.org/kakuma-refugee-camp-relief/

On to the bad news, it seems Bow would like to sever ties. Apparently he feels someone has insulted himself and his father. I of course observed no such thing or would have immediately put an end to it. No one will be insulting others or their contributions. People that do, and in-turn hold back people's progress, will be removed. People working largely as volunteer with little or no compensation does cause stress for many. To that all I can say is, not for long. Our financial outlook is changing rapidly. At any rate, at this time it does seem Bow would like to quit. Bow's contributions have been many. He has been a tremendous help and on many fronts. It is sad to see him leave when so much of our work is culminating. For that reason, the door remains and will remain open for him to return. I honestly suspect he may, but please allow me to address that on a personal level with those involved. If you can't keep it professional, keep it shut. If you don't understand delays, you most likely do not grasp the complexity or hurdles faced. No one will be allowed to hinder progress with personal attacks. I find it disgusting I even have to publicly say so, especially given the nature of the project.

2018 is going to be prosperous. From the looks of it, very prosperous! Thank you for the continued support.

Thanks for the update

I'm really saddened, surprised and sorry to hear about Bow leaving - I have a lot of respect for him and appreciate all the hard work he has contributed to the project. There are always problems like this with anonymous forums. When Lisk was getting big there was one guy laying heavily into the devs and all supporters - turns out he was (successfully) trying to manipulate the price, glad it doesn't happen so often on here.

Hello,

Bow is has been one of the most fanatical promoters of Evergreencoin we have seen.

I thank him for his continual contributions and wish him success in future endeavors.

Best Regards,

EverGreenCoin v1.7.2 source has been pushed. v1.7.2 has support for the zap wallet txes (-zapwallettxes) argument to remove orphaned transactions from the wallet and also builds on the Dynamic Staking for Charity. No ETA on Windows and Mac builds as of this time but, Linux users can build from source now.

To the treetop!
