How to determine what is bitcoin choose e-wallet if they do not misleading? The price in the purse is worth BTC. Maybe altcoins from BTC-splitting can be used only those who kept their savings offline on the computer?
Some e-wallets (eg. Coinbase) will have just destroyed or taken for themselves the BCH that you should've been entitled to. That's partly why we've been warning people to exit hosted wallets. Some others might still credit you your BCH later. 1. If I import the private keys from my old, now-empty Bitcoin wallet into the new Bcash wallet, does this mean that the my new Bcash wallet will have the old BTC addresses, which are now empty?
They will be the same addresses. On the Bitcoin network and in a Bitcoin wallet, they will be empty. On the Bcash network and for Bcash wallets, they will still have the same balance that they had around 14:00 UTC. 2. If someone were to send me BTC to my old BTC address, I could still use my old wallet to retrieve those coins, right?
Yes, you should in that case open the wallet in Bitcoin wallet software again. A Bcash wallet won't see those transactions. I recommend phasing out your old addresses, since I don't trust the security of Bcash wallets that you'll be giving your private keys to. If it would be difficult to phase out your old addresses, then I don't particularly recommend using this method of claiming your BCH. Other methods that don't involve giving your private keys to a Bcash wallet will become available in the coming weeks. So my question is; would they honor by giving me bch or bcc which ever they are distributing out to the holders of bitcoin at the time of the split?
The exact moment of the split was not 12:20 or 14:00, but sometime between those. I haven't figured out yet when the exact split time was, though. I think that 12:22 was probably pre-split. As always, thanks for your help theymos. |

If so it would be better to make BCH claim after 10 August.
That's not necessary in any technical sense AFAICT. I can't predict prices, though. Which one you prefer suggestion better, Install a BCash wallet on computer or use a Web-based wallet / wallet exchanges?
If you actually want to hold BCH for any length of time, I'd use a software wallet in which you control the private keys. |

It would be much more pleasant if there was a way to claim BCH/BCC by using signed message instead of importing private keys.

It should be possible to claim your BCH, but it may be difficult. You'll probably have to wait for someone to figure it out over the course of the next few weeks. What wallet would you recommend for BCH ?
I haven't tried any of them. The first thing I'd try would be ElectrumCash. But you have to be really careful, since now would be a perfect time for someone to put wallet-stealing malware in one of these pieces of software. That's why I recommended using a completely separate computer. |

Thanks for the guide , think I might just hold on for a bit longer until a method comes up that doesn't involve having to hand over your keys, especially if some of the addresses are still in use.

blockchain.info removed the ability to export private keys. You need to regenerate them from scratch using the deterministic wallet stuff. |

It's impossible to keep up with the posting activity but I hope this question doesn't get lost.
I'm curious about the instructions to move all BTC to a new wallet. Is this simply a way to ensure
BTC and BCC don't use identical keys going forward or is there a technical reason for it?
I ask because if users do nothing they are in that situation already. They have BCH that can be accessed
by their BTC keys imported into a BCH wallet. If BTC need be moved in order to claim the BCH shouldn't that be
the case also if abandoning the BCH. After all it still exists.
If there is no technical need to move BTC to a new wallet with new keys the only issue is the existance
of two currency wallets sharing the same keys. Since I own the keys to both what is the security risk?
Edit: changed BCC to BCH.
One additional point. If the BCH is claimed as described in the OP wouldn't the old BTC wallet still exist
and be useablewith the original keys?
Ok another point. The original keys are associated with the same addresses on both currencies. IF BCH keeps
the original keys it will also keep the original addresses from the BTC wallet. It might be desireable to keep
your existing BTC addresses as BTC addresses and obtain a set of new addresses for BCH. To that end would
the following process achieve that result?
1. Create a temporary BCH wallet using the existing BTC keys.
2. Create a new permanent BCH wallet with new keys.
3. Move the BCH from the temporary wallet to the permanent wallet. The temporary wallet can then be discarded.
4. Continue to use BTC with the original keys.

And I heard information that BCH delivery is faster than bitcoin, and it costs very little. How is the bitcoin going forward?

Another way to handle the HF (intended for users of the MMGen wallet but also applicable to Bitcoin Core): https://github.com/mmgen/mmgen/commit/576d8036c798249e237c422dad5a1e94a4082a21Funds do not need to be split before the fork. Transaction replay between chains is impossible, as BCH uses a completely different sighash algorithm. Signatures from one chain's transactions cannot be used to sign another's. The Bitcoin ABC daemon and Core daemon can be run side-by-side on the same machine: I'm doing it now. The main thing is to maintain two fully independent blockchains and keep your data directories separate. Use bitcoind's watch-only address feature as MMGen does, if possible, and keep your keys offline. |
