If you can, please make this a sticky , people NEED to be warned and i need to find someone to recover 150kusd and get 75kusd for it (Relative to current BTC + BCH prices )

I got robbed of 45.8 BTC (and BCH so total = 150000$) after installing the executable from electrum-wallet.com.

I was running multisig but both on the same PC. First i ran the portable electrum.exe from  electrum-wallet.com but when it did not load my wallets *NOTE : the ones that had BTC in them ,it loaded just fine any other wallet ) - I don't want to hear opinions on my stupidity

After it didn't work i downloaded last version of electrum from electrum.org

I'm wondering how the F is it possible that after 2 years of this thread no one has taken down and/or announced the US. authorities fbi etc about it.

I'm in Romania and have no wish to deal with this legally, which will probably get me nowhere.

I  am willing to split the rights on the BTC with whoever is capable of recovering them via detective+legal means.

This is the transaction : https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/tx/78d44db46445d3097996fc644c1221eeead31added5c35cf1b7938737e3b49db

As i said , I don't want to hear opinions on my stupidity, this is mostly a warning and hopefully a way for someone to make a healthy 75000$.

Sorry ot hear that. This is why people should be very careful moving their BTC right now trying to claim their 'free' BCC which I am assuming that you were trying to undertake. A reminder to others to only move small amounts at first.

Unfortunately you can't do nothing. Whit your money you really should be super paranoid when moving funds around.

PS: Chiar imi pare rau e o suma foarte mare dar puteai sa previi asta usor cu putina atentie.

Have you tried restoring from seed, even if you only get your BCH back it would be something.
Electrum-wallet.com isn't the website for Electrum.

Sorry to hear that you lost your BTC, it seems very unlikely that you will get them back, but you can but try.

who told you that "electrum-wallet.com" is the real website to download a bitcoin wallet from?
i am sorry for your loss but you should have double checked where you are downloading your wallet. this is not even the first scam attempt and there have been a couple of more of these sites like this.

the official electrum wallet website is electrum.org and there is no alternative to that. any other website is a scam.

There is a FOMO brewing...

How did you find eletrum-wallet.com?

I'm not able to find searching google for 'electrum' and 'electrum wallet'.

We better start reporting the site: https://safebrowsing.google.com/safebrowsing/report_badware/

Wow, that is crazy to hear. The site is an absolute scam and everyone should report it.

45 BTC is quite alot. I think your best bet would be to email abuse@namecheap.com and ask for the owner of the registered domain electrum-wallet.com
Maybe put a small hint that you have been robbed off of 45 BTC equal to XXX amount of USD and that you are pressing legal charges and will inform your authorities of this, also whoever registered the domain is using Namecheaps service WhoisGuard for anonymity which you could question and threaten that you report this to ICANN for their view on this matter. According to ICANN, "The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) broadly requires the mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address of those owning or administrating a domain name to be made publicly available through the "WHOIS" directories."

Which means that anonymous domain registrations aren't allowed and that mailing adress, phone number and email to the person administrating the site should be public information.

It is a long shot, but my best bet would be to email the domain provider and explain the matter and question how they are currently supporting criminal activities and also witholding important information on the person who is scamming users.

I m sorry to tell you but this is your mistake. electrum-wallet.com is NOT official electrum website. In fact, when I try to access that website, my security software goes nuts and prevents me from even opening this page. It s obvious you have downloaded a fake wallet which contained a virus which stole your money.

Once more, really sorry for your loss.

Blame Goodle adwords. Google ads now look so similar to their search results, many users are tricked into clicking those ads instead of the real sites

If its any help, I drafted a legal message and notified the domain hosting company about this issue. I expect them to shutdown the site and I'm waiting for their reply.

Once they reply we'll see if they are willing to cooperate or not, but its hard to say how much information they have on the owner of the domain. Obviously the whole possibility of anonymous domain registration and bitcoin payment will probably make this one hard to crack

Ohh.. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss. You should pay much more attention when dealing with such amount of money(even with small amounts). Try and download the official wallet software from electrum.org . As another member said here maybe you can get the free BCH at least. Try to snap out of this loss and work very hard to make them back even if it'll take a while..

Everyone is just feeling sorry for OP with nobody except one that have offered an advice to get to the root of the matter. He knows already he has made a mistake and there is no need to rub it on its face by feeling sorry for him. But unfortunately, there is no one to report to rather is there any way to apprehend the individual. One further disadvantage of the crypto world.

This is a route to go at this time and I wish it will serve as an eye opener to other people as well.

Sorry man for your loss. That's a huge amount to lose.

After seeing and reading this post here I quickly dashed to check my coins and behold I couldn't log into my Electrum wallet which I downloaded from Google playstore. Several attempts have proved abortive. I have also read comments from frustrated users on review about that. I am not panicking yet but I hope it is just a coincidence and not that my coins have been tampered with. Does anyone have that experience too?
