This a way how to mod the M.2 (NGFF) SSD to PCI-e Express 4X Adapter
so to make it work with this MSI Z170A GAMING PRO CARBON mobo! All you have to do is mod the adapter in this way!
But be sure to make it this way , don`t solder the pins down , but at the beginning as it is shown in the picture!

Of course you do it at your own risk , I don`t take any responsibility for any hardware and human damage Grin
I thank Msi for their absolute gorgeous support!

Or just power it with the power cable. Why alter the part of the m.2 that powers the whole board when you can help it out by actually plugging in that cable.

Cause it is not working that way!
The M.2 Port on this motherboard is M.2 Key M Socket, the seventy-fifth pin is defined as ground, but the seventy-fifth pin on the adapter is not defined as ground,so it can not be detected by the M.2 Port!

So in case the M.2-PCIx adapter is not detected, just solder (short cut) the two right pins?

Why only solder at the board beginning?

Yes that is right!
For the second question ,I don't know exactly, but when i did it the first time it didn't work, and when i solder at the beginning it worked! I guess the pins contact is some kind disturbed . May be the first time it was a bad soldering but just for sure do it this way! If you want to experiment do it and report!

Yoo , is there anyway around the solder method ? For those without soldering equipment etc.. ?  I also really want to run 8 gpu , because  i also  have a proper psu for the job , wich can easily power 8 or 9 ,  im happy with 8 .
