I am looking to invest in some mining-specific GPUs. Specifically, zotac gp106-100s.

I know they don't have any display ports but i am curious if i can still use the GPUs for gaming if i connect to the mobo's onboard graphics port.

I think they pretty much take out anything not necessary to mining, namely, video output ports. If you use onboard graphics then you're not using the GPUs.

GPUs were disappearing off the shelves only to be used for cryptographic hashes, leaving those who actually wanted them for gaming with less options. Solution? Make cut down cards for crypto that cost slightly less.

Look into the eyes.

Connecting to the boards on-board video port would simply use the integrated on-board graphics card, so no. That will not work.

The particular card that you're referring to was designed specifically for mining - minus the bells & whistles such as HDMI/DVI/ETC ports. Its sole purpose is for mining, so if your intent is to re-purpose/sell to recoup costs at a later date, I would not recommend this card.
