Once a transaction has 6 confirmations, it is extremely unlikely that an attacker without at least 50% of the network's computation power would be able to reverse it.

What kind of connection is required to host a pool? I've got a 4CPU/32core server at home, but I'm only on a 20mbps/10mbps connection. Also have no idea on setting up a pool.

p2pool setup is not issue. the NETWORKS.PY file for getting p2pool working on this network... and configuration to meat network setting is needed, and only coin developer can provide that info or someone need to see source code calculate numbers etc...

But, I'm off to bed for now, unfortunately. Hopefully someone can get something going in the mean time!

Once we get to 50 000 kh/s I'll add a few extra CPU's to make sure we stay stable. This could cause some minimal downtime while the VPS reboots.

MySQL returned an empty result set (i.e. zero rows). ( Query took 0.0010 sec ) No worker found, please make sure you made the worker at the right currency. You can change currency in the left sidebar.

My server ran into a "Too many open files" trap. Raised difficulty a bit (wrong hashrates alert;)) and also raised open file limit. First three blocks have wrong pay-outs. If you got shares in one of those, expect higher balance soon

I'll continue my regular work now things seem stable. In case of problems you can contact me directly at freenode irc #worldcoin.

Give the chap a break, he rushed to set up a pool we were all demanding. He already stated earlier he was having trouble with payments and would be processing them manually.
He has clearly posted his figures, I doubt he set out to screw any one over. Compared to other not so legit members who ran pools and when they were questioned about payouts answered back with that's the share system deal with it.

I found the problem: shares calculation bug in payouts. It takes all time share in stead of block share. Thats the reason less coins are being payed out. After finishing my diner, I'll be coding my ass of again!

Well, found out the database has been corrupted since the beginning of the pool. The pool can't continue like this. There are still about 9000 coins in my wallet. 6500 of those don't have an owner due to incorrect payouts. I will pay out all these coins by total amount of shares you delivered to the pool. You can view your amount to be received here: http://149.210.130.171/payout.html These numbers will change slightly. Payout will be after last block is confirmed. I will guarantee you have plenty of time to withdraw your balance (at least 48 hours). I will terminate the pool in 30 minutes. It'll be back some day: new coins require new pools. Sorry for now.

Just wanted to say having trouble getting the wallet to sync (added adnodes etc).. it connects to like 4.. then disconnects.. then reconnects to 3.. disconnects.. continues this way for like 10-15 min then sometimes (if I am patient enough).. it syncs.. anyone else having these issues as well? First coin wallet I have that acts this way.. any suggestions or others seeing this as well?
TY.
Edit.. after 33 min it finally connected to the right ones (speculation) and started to sync.. I am hoping this problem goes away for sake of coin.. hard to have faith in a wallet that won't sync...

Anyone worried about http://wdcpool.erundook.net (supposedly) having 336 Mh/s? that's about 60% of the network...is the reported rate just wrong? this seems like it could be a serious problem.

I was able to get my coins off multipool easily. Anyone worried about http://wdcpool.erundook.net (supposedly) having 336 Mh/s? that's about 60% of the network...is the reported rate just wrong? this seems like it could be a serious problem. Yea... that's kind of a big deal. I'm considering switching to p2pool to reduce their power a bit. Plus it seems like I'm getting less than I should be here... with my hashing rate I should be earning 35%ish more than I am. I've been mining for over 4 hours there. Dunno if it has to do with orphans or what's up erundook, maybe you should close registration for a bit? EDIT: Just switched to http://212.48.67.50:8336. half a percent higher fee, but it helps distribute the hashrate and maybe I'll earn closer to what I should be earning. I'll update in a couple hours.

anyone on dontmine.me has this problem? receiving too low payment
Looks very familiar to the bug I was having at my pool.. Shares calculation gone bad in cronjobs, thats all I know. I didn't fix it though, I only made a manual workaround. I will have a better look at it this weekend. Lost 50 WDC on multipool.
Please contact me by pm or irc (freenode > #worldcoin) and explain me the problem. I'm sure we will find a solution.

Please look at my account. I think the payout was incorrect. I have more 5000 paid and unpaid shares and the number of WDC coins looks very low. Useraccount AZIZ1977.

I'm trying it again today. Last night I stopped receiving payments just before 2AM EST, despite the fact that i was submitting shares straight through to 3AM. Before that it was excellent. If I'm not receiving steady payments in 5 hours then I'm going elsewhere. but not erundook's pool because I'm definitely not earning quite what i should be there. address is WkBoLrmemSoLr3vGo9J9ptYPKXgfMvGS4o in case you want to look into it or anything.

As always, if you have any issues etc please post in my thread so that I am aware and can get it sorted ASAP. Thanks

I have also had the experience of wondering why a pool was'nt accepting my hashrate only to find massive hardware errors reported in cgminer.. had me puzzled for awhile..give me a break.. it was at 3 am and I had just woken up.. Oh and it was my thread concurrency...

Big Vern just started worldcoinpool.com all his pools are great! Also he is a great admin handles problems fast. The page has typo atm so if your configuring use stratum+tcp://pool.worldcoinpool.com:3341 not royalcoinpool like currently shown on the getting started page. Pool also supports: GetWork Protocol: Hostname: http://www.worldcoinpool.com Port: 8388, 8080, & 443 Vern is the guy behind cryptsy.com so maybe WDC will get on there.

wdc down again Oh, I thought you meant wdc.dontmine.me...if you mean the hash rate it's because ddos'ers are wiping out 20-30% of network often enough to bring down difficulty. But it shows there is much hype surrounding the coin.

wdc.dontmine.me is up again!!
from site :
"News
5/18/2013 The host network had an outage yesterday for about 2 hours, unrelated to this pool (a bunch of servers went offline). The pool was working for several hours and then the WDC daemon had a hard crash that left everything offline until I woke up and was able to recover it.
Pool fee lowered to 1% , all the backlog blocks from the outage should be paid at this point."

sorry about that, it was a hang of web part of the service. i've fixed that already. all the miners should be fine even while web part was down. bad things happen to the best of us sometimes, but i'm doing my best to keep the service as good as possible

the network speed is reported by worldcoin client. and the pool hashrate is reported by a number of shares multiplied by difficulty (including stale shares). thats how it works.

isnt recommending a *working* pool a helpful message for miners? im sorry if it's not. Erundook you must relocate one of your pools, close one, or do something; you have too much hashing power connected on the same subnet. Forking has already happened and will happen again. Please recompile your worldcoind's with outgoing connections over 8 (pref >250) and incoming over 125 (pref >250) if you haven't done so already.

Hmm now the question is if a p2pool is private/internal or not. GPL experts step forward plz. Either way, it's good manners to release the modifications imo. Sorry WOPR if my misleading post made you release it although you didn't want to.

The network is choked to the breaking point...
Pretty bad when one pool has almost 50% of the hashrate but only gets 10% of the blocks... It's like solo mining, but with pools.

LOL at wdc.dontmine.me
It will reopen when the pool/network hash rate (102.44%) drops below 40%
The server is having problems: 5/20/2013 Update 2: The increased hashrate has caused me to increase share difficulty again. I'm working on an alternative solution to this but it would require some more downtime.
5/20/2013: Despite having 82 peers and a second node with 229 connected, the server's worldcoind began operating on a forked blockchain after block 41305. I caught this early and we're back on the "main" chain by 41670.
5/19/2013: I had to increase the share difficulty since the pool hash rate is growing. The block notify times were getting too high with the SQL load from share processin I would simply split the users across two servers.

Btw in the first place - I talk for p2p pool. p2pools just arent that transparent. they don't show orphaned blocks in stats. you'll be surprised to see how much orphans there are for real. and this is a common situation when hashrate skyrockets like 2x from it was before on a same difficulty. that means there are like 8 blocks per minute instead of 4 blocks expected. and guess who's guilty? pool hoppers! they pop out when diff raise and pop back in when it goes down, making hashrate go up and down like crazy thus making network less stable. and then they're whining like why don't we get those coins that calculator shows? :E actually there was the same profit when diffuculty raised and hoppers gone out. we got less orphans thus making us digging same amount of coins with higher difficulty, lol.

Reminds me of how women think the grass is greener in other pastures It's all luck guys, in 24 hours it would be the other way around. You need to choose a high bandwidth, DDOS protected pool with transparency and features. Sorry but erundook's pools are far superior to what else I've seen in the end.

Well I spent more than 24 hours there and it wasn't getting better. When I switched to the new pool I as getting ~85% of the coins the calculators show. So even accounting for orphans, overly optimistic calculators, etc., a 25% improvement in coins is well worth the switch; sometimes the grass is greener.

Well if you don't mind jumping your miners around a lot. Problem is, sometimes you might jump around while the place you just left becomes more efficient. It usually all evens out in the end, just make sure the pool is transparent and DDOS proof, and I'm not sure p2p is.

Totally agree with all you are saying, and I am not in the habit of jumping around, when I find a pool I like I usually stay put. But in this case, seeing as I was only getting 60% expected payout for a great length of time, I felt I needed to shop around. I didn't take the move lightly, and actually started by moving only 1/2 of my hash power. The first alternative pool I tried I stayed for about 16 hours and the results were about the same, so I tried yet another pool. After about 8 hours, at my now current pool, I noticed I was getting about 3 coins to every 2 at this old pool. Just to be safe, I waited another 8 hours and when the trend held, I moved the rest of my miners over. Now about 24 hours in at my new pool, I am getting a solid ~85-90% compared to the best-case calculations, which no matter how you look at it, it is definitely better than 60-65%.

You can share the address, we are all fellow miners here. If you really want to know, you can PM me and I can tell you where I moved to. You can probably figure out the pools I left if you follow my posts. I am only going by my own findings, so I encourage everyone to do their own research and come to their own conclusions. Also, factors such as proximity to the pool, etc. come in to play, so while one pool may be better for me doesn't mean it will be the same for you. Latency (ping) and Tracert tests can be a good first step.

So which pool is on the wrong fork now? Something isn't adding up.
Network hashrate: 1220.99 MH/s
wdcpool.erundook.net: Pool hashrate: 316.97 MH/s wdcpool2.erundook.net:Pool hashrate: 460.52 MH/s worldcoinpool.com: Pool Hashrate: 866.57 MH/s
Just these 3 pools are already over the entire network hashrate? This isn't taking into account dontmine.me and all the others. Someone is running on a fork I think.

With this Its fast enough for day to day transactions but still very secure. Want to buy a cup of coffee? Why wait for your payment to confirm, when your coffee could be paid for instantly. Need gas? Other coins aren't fast enough. This is where Worldcoin shines. Full confirmations will occur in about 60 seconds or less.
kind of shit, the forks were a little bit expected

multipool.in is a pos. Banned me after five minutes for god knows what...LOL. Maybe they thought I was blocking one of their 1,000 banners or maybe because I set my donation to 0.5? Why would anyone have a pool fee, ads everywhere and expect donations to be 2%? I make a whopping $15 a day as it is. Hmm maybe I'll setup a pool if all that and then some is tolerated...I could easily have a cleaner layout for sure.

Paul is a trustworthy operator who has always made right with his miners on all the pools he has started. The website is obviously experiencing some problems right now, yes, but the pool is accepting shares as far as I can tell. Slamming other pool operators by accusing them of running off with coins is very unprofessional. His pool has always had the "prepared to get orphaned" tagline in the banner. It's a clever joke on the block time of the coin.

Erun, make sure your pools are on the main blockchain. I see the network hash rate is not accurate and the last time it wasn't accurate it was because of dontmine.me was forked. So one of the large pools is forked again...I think. yep i know that. but we don't know yet which for is winning so... and look what happened to that wdc.dontmine.me website lol Oh okay, I didn't see any posts about it so I wanted to make sure at least you were aware. And yeah, what happened to dontmine.me? it says 'prepare to get orphaned' i guess he's off now with the coins people mined there... Please don't create FUD about other pool operators. It's a clever joke on the block time of the coin. oh, sorry i didnt see that phrase there before. but when you see that first time it looks suspicious. didnt want to offend anyone and i'm sorry to Paul as well if he's just experiencing some kind of hardware/software failures. i know how bad that could be. Thanks, just asking to think about what you say before you say it and the effect it can have on the community, especially given the size of the pools you are operating. To be honest with you, of all the pools that miners have been the most concerned about, it has been yours. Not trying to be too harsh, but your decision to split your pools into 2 and continue to accept new hash power on the same subnet was very irresponsible and bad for the blockchain so early in it's life. This is why major pools on other coins open up their second servers on the other side of the world, to help spread the hash out and prevent forks. One could argue that the forking problem we're concerned about isn't just due to the coin's nature, or the bad luck of the other pools, but an issue with the way you've ran your pool from the early age of the blockchain, with at times having up to 60-70% of the entire network hash parked. It's very important for pool operators and miners to consider the consequences of their actions so early in a new coins existence.

yep. that's why i did move the servers around so one is at europe and the second is in usa now. so that should help to distrubute the power.

I recall you saying something along the lines of "I wish people would ASK me if there are problems before accusing me". Take your own advice.

yep. i did already apologize for that. that was just that silly tagline made me think so. sorry again. but tbh, the page seems to be down for a couple of hours now and i haven't seen Paul saying a word here or there. though he could be busy recovering things from failure. you never know, right?

Pool is runnning great, but more hashing power is needed to find blocks: crypto-coins.de:8908As usual for P2Pool, just Point your miners on the above adress using your Wallett Adress as Username and a random passwort Example: cgminer.exe --scrypt -u Wc27kGnE5nHa2tvhmsCVTb3uCic3fZsDa4 -p hsdrtu89dfgdhfg8 -o crypto-coins.de:8908 See stats at www.crypto-coins.de:8908Pool Fee ist 1 %[/quote] We are still on paying out instantly without confirmations Feel free to point your miners on this pool!!

5/22/2013: Due to a lack of time on my part for administration, the dontmine.me series of pools will be closing.
I am unable to dedicate the amount of time required to provide the high quality pool that users expect.
The work servers will close immediately, and the pool sites and wallets will remain online until 6/5/2013 (2 weeks). from dontmine.me news section. Site is up for cashouts. Worked for me but still have some unpaid valid shares locked there.

the last two pools i've been at have been paying me about 55-60% of what my estimated payout should be.
This is BigVerns pool, and now Multipool.in
any idea why this is?
In fact, the very first pool i joined on launch day had a similar problem. The pool owner ended up with a large number of coins in his wallet, and had no idea why. He ended up paying out the excess to everyone based on total shares earned and shut down the pool. I suspect a similar problem is going on with these pools, and the pool operators just aren't aware of it?

nope. that pool had a database corruption, this has nothing to do with currently running pools. and for worldcoin in general its a common case to have alot of rejected/orphaned blocks due to a high blocks per minute rate. currently i am working on a big software update to my pools to minimize those losses, but for now this is a common problem for just any worldcoin pool. calculators show a bigger value just because they're expecting a perfect situation where you had no stale/invalid shares and pool got no rejected/orphaned blocks. but reality hits us hard

Then again, I'm not looking at calculators, I'm looking at the information reported by the pool (which I believe is based upon the number of shares submitted). You also have to keep in mind that difficulty changes three times in one day. That could also throw off estimates.

Bitcoin.Greece, can you update the link for the two recommended P2Pools? The current link is about 24 hours outdated and gives the impression that the pools are actually down, what with the big bold " POOL IS DOWN" and all... Here's the current link: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=213597.0I've been on the US server all day and the payout is very good relative to other pools that I've been on/in lately (despite cgminer reporting a higher reject rate).

Do you want frequent payouts? No registration? High efficiency mining? High efficiency mining is the key for me. I'm getting more coins per hour from your US pool than I have from ANY of the other pools that I've been on at the same hashrate and am now down to only ~ 1.5% rejects. Awesome job on the setup, dude! The only thing missing is a cool name for the servers and an address for additional donations.

CryptoCoin Mine - WDC Mining Pool Do you use CryptoCoin Explorer? Would you like to help with the costs associated with CCE upkeep and development? I offer you a painless way to support CCE if you already mine. CryptoCoin Mine is brought to by me (dreamwatcher), as is CCE. I want to avoid advertising or charging for CCE, but costs have sky rocketed since the introduction of the PPC explorer. CCE now houses 10 crypto coins and I have requests everyday to add more. Today CryptoCoin Mine (CCM) has a WDC Pool. wdc.cryptocoinmine.com Mine port is 7070 This is a Stratum only pool. If I see enough demand, I will add Pushpool (LP). The Pool is a 1% PPLNS with the familiar mmcFE front end. I will be working on a PPS offering and hope to completely switch over to PPS in the next few months.

erundook's pools are top notch: "Hey all, I have made a pool for worldcoins: - http://wdc-eu.epools.org/- http://wdc-us.epools.org/(there are two of them to spread the load) Pool fee is 1.5%, payout scheme is proportional. Only stratum is supported by now. Details on payout scheme: First, you connect your miners and start submitting shares. Later, one of pool members gets a block solved. Then we all wait for solved block to get 90 confirmations (). And finally, the block reward is split between all the miners who were participating in the block solving by this formula: [ your reward ] = [ block reward ] / [ total shares to solve block ] x [ number of valid shares you sent ] Come join us! " I can vouch for his pools, and payout count is accurate.

Is the coin getting 51ed at times ? Using http://wdcpool2.erundook.net/I can see large gaps between block finds. Usually around 2-5min between blocks but sometimes there are 20min+

It is indeed a shame bigvern does not place a registration cap on his pools, Paul of dontmine.me runs some of the most successful pools available and even he caps registration to ensure that his pool doesn't exceed 30-40% of network hash.
Combined with the fact that he is also operating an exchange, that he would take it more seriously.

thats why we were splitting our pools to geo zones. sadly miners at bigvern's pool dont understand that and keep his pool over 50%.

Well, WDC is the second pool in the cryptocoinmine.com project. The pool profits go to support www.cryptocoinexplorer.com I will be adding a Long Poll port tonight for those who can't or do not want to mine on stratum. I have a plenty large upgrade path if the pool starts to grow out of its current server. wdc.cryptocoinmine.com (website and registration) wdc.cryptocoinmine.com:7070 stratum mining port (Soon to have a LP mining port. I just finished fitting the JKC pool with one)

As most of us have rifled through various pools trying to find a stable, stratum connection with high efficiency, this wdc-us pool matches those requirements and has a fresh interface. Payouts were spot on for me and blocks were coming in on the regular for a smaller, yet growing pool hash. Again, starting to really like the change of appearance from every other pool looking identical. Thumbs up.

Pool closed due to lack of interest.
The Hash rate display has been corrected.
Note the Hash rate displays are cosmetic, so actual Shares and payouts were not effected.
That being said, I know us miners, love our benchmarks
I am going to hold off on the implementing the LP , until I hear it will bring miners in.

I have closed down wdc.cryptocoinmine.com due to lack of interest.
I am giving out what is in the pools purse to the TWO people that at least tried to help.
wackenroader I am sending you 100 WDC as you put the most effort in
vm1990 I am sending you 38 WDC for at least trying the pool. (PM me a payout address)
On a side note, I am also taking WDC off of CCE, as it appears to me you do not need or want it there, 0 WDC donations since start on top of almost zero pool participation.I started with WDC on cryptocoinmine because I was reading as a community that you were concerned about hash rate concentration, guess I was mistaken there to.
I do not ask for a whole lot, even tried to make it easy where it would not cost anything. You are not the last coin on the chopping block.

I apologize for not being able to contribute a lot in your pool, I'm mining for apu with amd A8-3870K it only makes 65mhs. It is my personal computer when I need to do other jobs have to stop mining. It is unfortunate that everyone focused on large pools and not distribute the hashpower in smaller pools. Thanks for everything.

yeh same here iv kinda taken a step away from worldcoin. back to novacoin for me if the community had common sense then they would spread the hashing power out but the way its going worldcoin is going to keep forking which is going to make it a mess.... but that what happens when idiots start mining. ill keep an eye on it but for me worldcoin is already hitting a slippy slop and if people dont wake up then its not going to work

Pool is runnning great, but more hashing power is needed to find blocks: crypto-coins.de:8908As usual for P2Pool, just Point your miners on the above adress using your Wallett Adress as Username and a random passwort Example: cgminer.exe --scrypt -u Wc27kGnE5nHa2tvhmsCVTb3uCic3fZsDa4 -p hsdrtu89dfgdhfg8 -o crypto-coins.de:8908 See stats at www.crypto-coins.de:8908Pool Fee ist 1 %Would love to overtake a little bit of the hashing Power :-D Pool is running very smooth... But miners apparently went away to Pushpools....

Ok, took a bit of doing but I have a Worldcoin P2Pool running at: stratum+tcp://wdc.xpool.net:8820Please test it out! You should get low latency which is always good for P2Pools. 0% fee up to a pool rate of 10Mh/s. New Pool : I am pleased to announce that Silverwolf's WDC Pool has launched and we are ready for your miners ! During the BETA testing phase a limited number of new user registrations will be allowed. We will be adding more new user slots as the pool stabilizes. Get your slot now before someone else does ! We have made a lot of improvements to the mmcFE front end, the payout logic, and our launch process since our last pool launch. This is a Worldcoin (WDC) Pool. Our payout system is PPLNS, this is an great system to prevent pool-hoppers and to ensure that everyone is paid fairly, but remember it's not the same as PPS, payouts do not happen until a discovered block has been confirmed 90 times by the network and you need to mine for a while to build up to your full payout. For more information about how PPLNS works, please visit this link : http://silverwolf.ath.cx/wdc/aboutFeatures : * Great PPLNS payout system * Stratum ONLY. * Support Ticket System for easy reporting of issues * 1% Fee * Detailed Stats * Auto or Manual (Instant) Payout To Connect : 1. Register an account then login & setup your workers : http://silverwolf.ath.cx/wdc/2. Connect your miners as follows : url = http://silverwolf.ath.cx port = 3336 (Stratum) username = <username>.<workername> password = <workerpassword> 3. Start Mining !

I'll switch to a p2p after work today, but after all of the confirmations that person shouldn't still have valid shares, correct? That's how I always understood it.

multipool.in is a pos. Hmm maybe I'll setup a pool if all that and then some is tolerated...I could easily have a cleaner layout for sure.
banning only happens if you enter your password wrong 5 times. If you had let me know in my official support thread, I could have unbanned you.. We have never had a pool fee, we used to charge a transaction fee for withdrawals, but even that is gone now, and we don't have 'a thousand banners', we have one small google text ad at the top of the page, and one large banner at the bottom (which is off the screen for most pages on the site, unless maybe you have a 27" monitor?), both of which are blocked by adblock's default settings (which is why we request people turn off adblock). Maybe you are thinking of a different site. I don't ban people for setting a low donation percent, if you think I have time to check each user's donate percent you probably have never run a pool.

Bitcoin greece, just wanted to make sure if you haven't patched the pool, ask erundook about it. I think it was just an exploit for the stratum software that litecoin folk detected. Later

ok guys. I made a new WDC pool. The fees are like 1%. It's on a deticated server with Worldcoin only. It's on 100Mb insternet connection Also it's not VT. it's a full deticated server. The address is http://www.mineallcoins.com:19335/static. To connect your miners use a command like this. cgminer --scrypt -o mineallcoins.com:19335 -u WALLETADDRESS -p 1 --lookup-gap 2 --expiry 3 --scan-time 1 --queue 0 Thanks in advance Hope to see you coming at my pool .. any questions feel free to pm me

In my case, solo mining is much better. I think lots of people are mining solo right now with the low difficulty. Pools will become popular once difficulty rises above a certain point.

wdc.ub3rl33t.com - New fork of the defunct mmcFE source with all core code rewritten. flawless performance. We have been running a bunch of mmcFE based mining pools that are PPLNS and are very dissatisfied with the problems we have with them not paying out correctly. After tweaking and reworking the code, we finally gave up on fixing it. Our new pools have a totally rewritten core code and we think you will all like what we have now! Proportional Payout Per Block - You are payed after a block gets 100 confirms and the payout is based on your shares ratio to the total shares for the block. Finder Reward - The finder for the block gets 5% of the block other pools with the same system: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=232156.0

With WDC changing it's specifications p2pool code will need to be updated. The two parts I have identified that need to change are: BLOCK_PERIOD=15, # s targetspacing change to: BLOCK_PERIOD=30, # s targetspacing
and... SUBSIDY_FUNC=lambda height: 32*10000000 >> (height + 1)//4147200,
SUBSIDY_FUNC is a bit tricky. Anyone have some code examples from another coin that reduce subsidy similar to how WDC will? New block reward details: Block Reward: 64 coins, reduced 1% every week (20,160 blocks) I suppose it could just be changed to SUBSIDY_FUNC=lambda height: 64*10000000, but that is not optimal. Help?
