in fact you can!
there is a market for ethereum as its base on bittrex (which was added recently). if you visit this page you can see all the markets: https://bittrex.com/Home/Markets there are 4: BTC, ETH, USDT, BITCNY

and here is the direct link to ETH_LTC market which you can trade these two coins directly against each other: https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=ETH-LTC

know that these markets are usually having lower volume making it harder to trade successfully specially if there is a big spread too.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Ok, but actually i think i will sell ltc to buy some bcc but i want things to be ready when i need it. So will i trade ltc to btc and then buy bcc or would you do it differently? And would you trade to BCC now or would you wait untill the pump in a day or week?

Trading LTC to BTC and then BCC is the only way to acquire BCC.
BCC won't pump in a day or week though, it will most likely dump as that's what the majority of people want to do but can't due to long block times and not many ways to deposit. You might want to wait until then but honestly you're better off investing in something else.

I am not very familiar with bittrex but I guess if it has an ethereum market then you can buy litecoins using ethereum. Other exchanges such as poloniex and c-cex have a ethereum market wherein you can buy or exchange ethereum to other alternative coins. But if there is no ethereum market in bittrex then there is no other way but to just convert your ethereum to bitcoin then after converting it to bitcoins then just exchange it to litecoins. That would be very easier and less complicated however if there is an ethereum market then you will be able to do it easily.

There's a trading pair for what you've requested OP, check out Bittrex's website and notice the trading pairs on your own because you might be able to find what you're looking for more easily.
Other than that, you should also check prices compared to main markets because you aren't always getting the best rates.

This would mean sending coins from one exchange to the other, calculating the fees and the possible profit?

I am just beginning to "trade", i'm actually in it for the long run. Step by step but for now i think i will just stay with bittrex. Thx!

Transaction fees are something to take into account too sure, but not something you'd have to face ofter if you were trading on the same exchange. Bittrex is long running and hasn't showed serious fault so far so I'd say that it's good for altcoin trading.

Basically, yes, you can now exchange ETH - LTC directly thought this link: https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=ETH-LTC. You can also go to this page: https://bittrex.com/Home/Markets to see which markets are online. There are a lot of things that you can see.

if you decided to go the direct route of exchanging your one altcoin (eth here) for another altcoin (ltc) then make sure to check if there is not a big spread in the market price and also check to see if the ETH-LTC market really has any volume or not.

i have never checked this on bittrex, but usually these markets lack liquidity. and that means you may find it difficult to sell your ETH coins for LTC or be forced to sell them at a loss.

There is a FOMO brewing...

This is exactly how it was  when I sold the bcc I acquired.
I had to do it at a loss due to waiting on the transactions going to exchange's wallet taking so long.
So it essentially was not fault of my own rhetoric.
That is just how it goes with alt coin trading.

Timing is everything when it comes down to it. Wink

Currently the ETH/LTC pair on Bittrex has a 24 hour volume of about $200,000.

The BTC/LTC pair has enough liquidity that any reasonable amount of BTC would not dent the market, so the OP's main concerns are the spread on the ETH/BTC market and the added exchange fees.

I would say that an amount under 1 BTC or so would be reasonable to exchange directly from ETH to LTC.  More than that might be reasonable to go through the BTC pair.
