where is dev?

no projects for the coin ?

need relauch i think

I dont think Bitgem needs a relaunch. Seems to me like this is minerals pet project that he pops in and works on from time to time. Your of course welcome to fork the source and make your own. But I think its best to leave Mineral to complete his project in his timeframe

+1

looks like a reliably, steadily maintained coin

one of the earlier ones

very creative idea

worth noting too that there are <30,000 btg
also, the peak price occurred well after the peak for most coins

website's English needs to be cleaned up and maybe the concept clarified but this looks like a better coin

yes but hold my 700 coins since a year

Hope you held them an extra day as the price just tripled. I always liked this coin, maybe it's my antique jewellery dealer parents influence that helped Smiley I think of BTG more of a store of value than a currency.

Looks like the network is having some issues.  I keep two instances of bitgemd running: one for my pool on a VPS in Germany, another on a home server in the US.  Neither is able to connect to other nodes.  My block explorer says the last block it's heard of is 84449.  I found another block explorer; it concurs.  There have been no commits to GitHub since February, so it's not a matter of having missed a critical update...so what's going on?

Hi,

I have re-arranged a bit our bitgem website, doing it more simple and clear, and improving the accesibility of info.

www.bitgem.in

Currently, Colored coins are being built only in wallet, that is, in a local fashion. I am thinking about spreading the colored partition along the blockchain, but this step will require a lot of work, so I am not sure about deadlines.

Regards.

Sometime in the next few weeks I will try to send you some suggestions for improving the English on the website.

But you must make the website mobile friendly.

A lot of users use small operating systems and screens.

One of the most undervalued coins out there in my opinion.

I dont think they are going to remove it.  Bitgem has got notably an smaller size blockachain and lower bandwith traffic than other coins. In this sense, it is the most cheap coin in maintainance aspect, so it is a clear candidate for keeping.

The first few lines of the website:

"Bitgem provides a modular wallet enabling colored gems. Colored gems embody a built-in wallet colored coins, providing sending gems feature, and applying an automatic conversion between BTG and gems {DMD, RBY, SPH, EMD}.
BTG can be forged into Diamonds, Rubys, Sapphires or Emeralds, or abbrev. DMD, RBY, SPR, EMD. There are two processes implied:"

Does the following sound better? Or could someone else improve it?

Bitgem is one of the early cryptocurrencies, founded in May 2013. Only about 30,000 btg exist. While most coins are simple clones, Bitgem was designed to add an extra function. The Bitgem wallet can generate four different types of trading coin or gem, Diamonds dmd, Rubies rbs, Saphires spr and Emeralds emd.

As an American this sounds better to me.

Also there doesn't seem to be a working explorer. I'll pitch in a small amount if someone starts a bounty for one.

It is the zero hype coin. Even though it was one of the most original of the early coins it has no hype.

1) One of the coolest wallets. Even now few other coins have added extra tricks like creating new kinds of coins or gems.
2) Dev disappears but always comes back. He is sitting on the beach in Puri sipping Margueritas and every now and then he checks and sees if an update is needed. Most coins from that era the original devs are long gone.
3) Market cap is about USD 5k. There is no doubt it is a better investment at this price than almost any other coin.

But

1) Website has rough English and some toxic words like 'forge'.
2) No block explorer as far as I know.

Small amounts of bitgem keep trickling out at current prices so a person can buy slowly. There is not enough depth to buy very much though. About 4 bitcoin would buy the entire sell side of cryptsy. A waiting game right now.

So I'm new to the Linux wallets, but not new to Linux.  I downloaded the source, compiled it, added the nodes to the .conf, but I get no connections.  Getinfo gives me this:

    "moneysupply" : 0.00000000,
    "connections" : 0,

Any suggestions?  Any help is much appreciated.
