The first altcoin was created in April of 2011, Namecoin was the first altcoin. But they really got so popular in 2016.

i think it shall owe to ETH, the smart contract makes it simple to develop a altcoin and the success of ETH is a huge demonstration, many people get into the market because of ETH

when they made x1000. i saw altcoins months ago but i thought they are scam and trying to be new bitcoin and i said to myself there won't be another bitcoin we missed the train . 3 months later when coins made x100 i realized that there could be another bitcoin and we can still catch train

There must be time for altcoin to become popular as the case with bitcoin today. I see eth and bch as altcoins that are really tough and more potentially soaring than other altcoins.

Altcoins become poppular due to many reasons. First of all is that people want to learn more about blockchain and new technology inside cryptocurrencies. since bitcoin was created, it has opened a new way to make online currency and online smart contracts. Second, they want to earn more money from holding altcoins. There are many evidence prove that if you hold altcoins for a long time, you will become extremely rich. You will become rich even faster than holding bitcoin

Altcoins became famous when Doge launched, I think that brought lot of attention and investors. People couldn't believe that something so sill would by worth anything. lol
I hope this could not achieve by altcoins in now or in future. Altcoins are available in the most names and multiple coins. If the coin is unique like bitcoin then it will get popular like bitcoin to non users of digital currencies. We need some heavy amount investor to invest on altcoins such as BCH or ETH. I think in these anyone will compete with the bitcoin in near future. |

Can someone tell me when these altcoins like waves, nem etc were available on bittrex? Were they easy to buy a lot of it back then?
Is there a way to know when exactly certain altcoins got listed on bittrex? Such as was waves listed there when it was 20 cents? Or not until it was 1 dollar etc? What about litecoin and those other coins?

In my opinion this year seems to be one among the important year for the growth of altcoins in a combined manner. Lots of altcoins gained good market compared to the past years as well a large investor base has got generated. I believe these all things happened just because of the price pumping that happened with ethereum.

Popularity came to altcoins, when more people started paying attention at Bitcoin and its growth. Then many people realized which potential can be hidden in crypto and started to make their alts. Some of them are extremely cool now (Monero, Ripple, DASH).

As i believe and i experienced myself this market is too big to be ruled by only one coin. There are different coins needed in different areas of life to be more efficient. I'd definetely take bitcoin over anything but that doesn't mean all alt coins are are useless or sth.

I think it is according to market situation when bitcoin market is more fluctuated then bitcoin demand increased and other altcoins demand decreased and when the bitcoin price will stable and having not too much fluctuation in result the other altcoin price will unexpected growing and you can get the chance to earn good profit from altcoins and in result the altcoins goes so popular.

Bitcoin was a great opportunity, but many people lost it because they didn't adapt early. People don't want to repeat that mistake with good alts.  and even now is only 1% of all peoples know about crypto. |
