Hi everyone,

I downloaded Armory and Bitcoin Core.  I then generated an address to receive my Bitcoin with my Armory wallet from my Coinbase wallet.  The transaction is completed and has been confirmed multiple times.  But nothing is happening.  My dashboard has a "preparing databases" message with a greyed out box to its right.  I only have a "dashboard" tab, but on Armory's tutorials, it is shown with several other tabs.  Further, the tutorials show that once Bitcoin Core is downloaded, it will automatically begin to sync up.  But that's not happening for me.  What's going on? Why can't I access my Bitcoin?

Thanks.

You are probably not synced yet. Bitcoin Core is probably still syncing. Stop Armory and start just Bitcoin Core. Let it fully sync. Once it is synced, then stop Bitcoin Core and start Armory. Armory should then start Bitcoin Core (the daemon, bitcoind) in the background for you. Armory will then sync its own databases from Bitcoin Core. Once that is all done, you should be able to access your Bitcoin.

Several of the video tutorials are outdated as the wallet software has changed significantly since those were made, including removing one of the tabs.

Achow101,

Thank you for responding to my post.  I'm sure my question is n00b-tier, but in researching Bitcoin, all of the issues I read about were security related.  I didn't want to leave my Bitcoin sitting in my Coinbase wallet.  So it was sorta frustrating to run into this issue.  For clarification -- as I've sent Bitcoin to an address generated by Armory, the Bitcoin is in my wallet, I just can't access it?

I've opened Bitcoin Core and am letting it sync now.  How long does it take to sync, generally?

Thanks again for your help.

Yes,

It depends on your machine. It can take anywhere from several hours to several days.
