A pre-sale allows potential investors to get in early enough in the sale at a discount price.
Usually 10-25% off the original price of the tokens when the pre-sale ends of the ICO and the regular sale begins.

They set aside enough for the pre-sale so this the reason why they offer this bonus and usually with some perks.

You can see those for the one in my singnature if you want an example of one currently running it's token sale in it's second phase of the pre sale along with bonus discount for purchasing them early before the sale of the tokens end.

Very good points - thank you dash. I was worried because I'm a dev and will be launching soon but we aren't including a presale. We're doing a different format but I wanted to understand the rational. Thank you.

there is a discount usually in the presale while there is no discount in the ICO usually. So for presale investor actually get more coins with the same amount of money they put in

well its a way for the dev to attract early investors and it will be a good way for those who will get lucky if the ico succeed then the amount of earnings
will be more than what we expected, me I'm also looking for this type of bonuses and take opportunity out of it.
