Received a mail in spam stating small compensation bonus for the support and loyalty towards Stake. Saw the maintenance notification through Telegram Channel, by the time there were discussion on fake social accounts posting about Stake token/coin. It would be helpful if someone clarifies it. So that I can stay away or claim the small bonus.
User funds were not lost, so there is nothing for you to claim. I'm more interested in knowing how they managed to get a hold of your email in the first place. Simple answer, October/November 2022 hack. All email addresses stolen. I got several promotion (from other sites) and scam attempt emails to my address which is only registered at stake, never used anywhere else. Of course stake wouldn't tell us that.

On the topic of the $40 000 000 that were hacked from Stake.... guess who is going to pay for those losses. (Expect a crazy RTP for a while folks) I believe they've got kind of a money pillow for such case, like SAFU in Binance Or they will just decrease budget for their promotions and that is it. Anyway, I sure that they are not totally newbies in crypto industry and would do their best to catch that guy who has got different kind of jackpot worth 41 millions The most important is that users did not lose their balances and withdrawals are open. That theft act is casinos headache, not users.

As per their statement on X.com the attack happened on ETH/BSC hot wallet. Which I am assuming that are deposit of users. They do claim that user funds are secured which means users would get thier cryptos back from their reserved wallet. That is expected from a big online casino like them. Now, question is can they get those funds back from the hacker. In most cases these are inside job and the way they are again business as usual they might already know how to get those funds back.

I have been following information regarding this Stake hack and all I can say is those hackers are not small time hackers, they are professionals, the way they move the funds is mind blowing, they know what they are doing.
I think the North Korea hackers aka the Lazarus Group are back in business, this group have been behind series of hacks in crypto space this year and years back, this is just what I think about, but the truth still remains, we don't know who is truly responsible for this hack.
What's mind-disturbing is Stake is pretending like everything is fine when nothing is fine, their tweet on Twitter is nonsense and they are receiving negative responses from their customers already.
I am afraid that this will continue to be the major step back for crypto, as none hacks have been happening with Fiat like how it's been happening with crypto, it's disturbing, something that could set back crypto mass adoption.

Provably they might spend more to strengthen up their security and I guess the budget for marketing will decreased due to this incident.

This could be end for smaller casinos, but i think it's hard for people to grasp the size of stake and amount of volume that goes trough stake. Just in comparison: Stake made around $2.6 billion in revenue in 2022. $40M is 1.5% from that. I am sure that they didn't even need to open their emergency fund for this So it's not a problem when one puts things in a perpective.

I am sure that they didn't even need to open their emergency fund for this So it's not a problem when one puts things in a perpective. I think it's a very competitive business so to see a big casino having hacking problems and losing money will make a lot of people working from other casinos come to discuss the problem as if it's a very big case, even though it has been explained that all funds are safe and I think indeed people who come to this thread discuss that they don't see how Stake spends money on promotions and campaigns alone maybe very big, so why are they getting busy here because of this problem, I'm sure this problem will be the right material to drop Stakes. but that's in vain Maybe if it's a small casino I'm sure the casino will go bankrupt and won't operate anymore, they probably don't know Stake that much or have never visited Stake, so I'm just the one laughing in the back when people discuss this hack like it's a big deal while Stake's side already said that all users' money is safe, as you said it is not worth it

That people just always wait for unfortunate incident happen in a famous site and this is an example on why we need to be cautious about spreading online since by seeking some help regarding on situation like this they might fall on more worse situation. People should avoid on this site, also since stake announce that there's no site users fund is lost then provably that no one will get baited in this attempt.

Interesting that their choice of words was the "user funds are safe". I know for a fact that over over $20k of my funds were lost in the hack, as it's visible on the blockchain. Nonetheless they presumably have more than enough in cold storage to cover all user funds, and it seems like they're by and large going to be able to get away without even needing to refill the hot wallets.
Kudos to the team for their swift return to service!

Nice find. After the announcement that there have been fake accounts that were imitating stake's account and that they're having a token launch, this is the next one. Whoever these people are are really riding the situation and don't even have the empathy to do what's necessary on these times when stake is dealing with a situation that they're already handling. For those people that are worried about such things, do not follow any other channels or social media accounts of stake but only the official one.

Scammers are pretty quick at taking advantage of situations as this to try to scam unsuspecting victims, but lets hope that with the warning already shared on this forum plus other places I believe, no one will fall victim to this rogues.

I'm sure we're all eager to hear for an official announcement regarding how it happened. A matter of employee access controls failing, a software failure or something else? That's for sure a large amount to keep out of cold storage anyway.
EDIT: ~Still, begs the question what happened if it's something others can learn from.
The post-hack explanation surely might help to recover the trust issue from the customer. Also, it might help the community, especially within the cryptocurrency business to learn from this incident. I am also curious to learn and see why Stake was penetrated.
Simple answer, October/November 2022 hack. All email addresses stolen. I got several promotion (from other sites) and scam attempt emails to my address which is only registered at stake, never used anywhere else.
Of course stake wouldn't tell us that.
That might explain why some users and some people that I know got phishing emails that were related to Stake. Do you have more information regarding this leak? And what do you mean by Stake would not tell the incident, does this one did not widely known and the team didn't acknowledge their security got penetrated?

Well, if you ask me, I don't think stake is going to make or come up with public explanation of what really happened that lead to the supposed or alleged hack, several online sources have the news of the hack, but checking Stake official account on X, they(stake) have not mentioned anything patterning to the hack, or even made any tweet refuting or acknowledging the claim, they only made mention of experiencing authorized transactions being made from their ETH/BSC hot wallets, and only said they are investing the issue, also mentioned that funds are safe. They later on tweeted that both affected wallets are back online and fully operational again, they didn't say anything concerning what the outcome of their investigation is, and I personally do not think they are going to from this moment, and since non of their users lost money in the incident, I personally feel they owe the community no explanation of what happened. ~snip~

Why is nobody from Stake official accounts talking about this mega hack?! Where is Stunna or some other Stake guys? Maybe manager of Stake campaign can talk with them and tell them to get back more activity in bitcointalk forum. Better dont keep coins on gambling websites and exchanges guys, you see how easy is to lose millions in crypto.

I believe stake will make public announcement about the hack like they have already done on X and with the way things are we should be fine with that and respect their privacy if they decide not to make an official forum announcement about the hack since no customer money was stolen and the halted features like withdrawal on the Binance smart chain have been restored, so for that its all good and stake can take the time to properly audit and put measures in place that will protect their wallet from future attacks. We will only panic if the unauthorized withdrawal was done on the customer's balance, but since it is a hot wallet it makes it easy for the stake team to quickly put things in order and move on as if nothing happened or decide not to make noise about it.

AFAIK, all email addresses weren't stolen for the Stake sendgrid email leak. I haven't received any spam or phishing email related to Stake from unknown sources on my Stake account email address. Some other forum members had also confirmed that they didn't receive any phishing email after the sendgrid email leak.

They handle the recent hacking very well but they need to announce this incident on their public channels and not only on X to formalize all things and make people know about recent updates. But guess their supporters already share the news here so I guess they already settle with current situation and they focus to investigate on the case where hacker stole some balance to their own wallet. This is unfortunate but since it already happen best for stake to secure their site more avoid the same issue in future.
