The last book I read is "the 48 laws of power". It has 48 laws of robert greene to gain power over your enemies in business, power over your boss, power over your rivals or power over your loved one. By power I do not mean the brute power. One example is Law 1. Never outshine your master. It explains that masters are easily offended and that they will think that you are trying to outshine them and show everybody that you are better than him. Eventually, the master will conspire to bring you down instead of feeling joy on seeing you become better than him.
