Are you demented? Vega is way better than gtx 1070 by a long shot. The power consumption is not a concerning for a gamer. They dont care if it uses more power as long the performance pays out, so meaning, they will prefer vega 100000x times than gtx 1070. I'm a gamer and by what I saw, I would prefer vega than all except 1080 ti.

The reason for the low hashrate is because its the way Dagger algo was designed. Its the same reason why Fuji wasn't that much faster than most other cards.

They designed it this way most likely to prevent ASICs.

I am sure in other algos like ZEC or SHA256 it will murder most GPUs.

Lol... they sold out on the first day, and the same day people listed them on ebay for over $1000 thinking they were going to be great mining cards.  Jokes on them. I doubt any gamer is going to pay more than double retail price for a card that doesn't get better framerates than a 1080 Ti.

I don't think Vega will be better at Equihash either, since it has a slower core clock, and Equihash is core intensive rather than memory intensive.  Nvidia will still be faster than any Vega model as a result of their much faster core speed and wide ranging core overclock ability.  

Of course there is the possibility that AMD intentionally nerfed mining capabilities on the card to let gamers have a chance to pick the cards up at a decent price, and later on they'll 'unleash the beast' so to speak opening up real mining performance in later bios/drivers.

New egg had some "I Think"I got a email from new egg telling me to per order by 6 am i try to, so I go  there it was a dead link and now they post all the Vega with the 499.99  price tag  i tried to per order sold out and all the other Vega 64 599.99 an up  out of stock ... which makes no sense unless we have to tell them in a email  ..so guess it's buy more NV now sense i Zec mine more then ETH.

gtx 1070 is more appealing than Vega 64 @ $599 imo.  Why would anyone spend $599 over a $420 card for similar performance?  Vega 64 @ 499 and Vega 56 @ 399 still made much more sense given the Freesync capabilities and knowing that rest of the gaming HW (Freesync monitors) would be cheaper compared to a Nvidia platform.  But given the pricing, I never saw an AMD card listed at MSRP.  Same thing happened with Polaris cards too?  Listed at $199 but were being sold for $229/$239 while gtx 1060 were already at that price range.

I really do not understand how these numbers are even possible though. This thing does not even match the Fury in performance yet uses more power? These things really do not make any sense for mining at all.. I wonder if that was AMD's plan? Perhaps they have gimped it via the drivers for the initial release and will unlock more speed later once they have more in stock?
