My coin income from the last 4 days hasn't varied as much as I expected:

12-24 : 5193 coins
12-25 : 4566 coins
12-26 : 5254 coins
12-27 : 4067 coins

Of course that is a big change from 10,068 coins on 12-23 and 14,110 coins on 12-22... haha... but price also WAY up.

Is there an issue on main pool ? My reported hash rate is normally very steady but suddenly cut in half.

Re-booted all my miners earlier and it went back to normal.

Sure -- on ITNS I have the following :

RX480 x 15
RX560 x 4
RX570 x 12
RX580 x 5
RX-VEGA 64 x 3
RYZEN 1700X CPUs x 2

Used to run a bunch of other CPUs on it as well but had issues getting kicked off servers -- changed those to other algos.

It is easy to see that China with the Great Firewall is the biggest and most potential market for intense to triumph. I was is Shanghai once in 2016 and damn it, I cannot even upload my photos to facebook....

Oh god the pain. Trying to google, trying to upload to Facebook. It's terrible.

One concern I do have is about VPN protocols. Some are very unstable or even totally unusable in China. Would be good if the decentralized VPN network was dynamically multi-protocol.

does the memory size make a big difference when gpu mining this algo? for example, would it be worth the extra $ to get an 8gb rx580 over a 4gb model?

i have 6 rx580 4gb and 1 rx580 8gb and 2 rx570 4gb...  and they all pretty much get the same speeds..  depending on the miner.   I find that the 4gb 580 have the highest for me.... and the other 3 are slightly less.. Like 840h/s versus 800 h/s ..... depend on the memory speed more than the amount is would say.....  the sapphire cards seem to be the best with the samsung memory..
