There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

I guess the best thing to do once this happen is to immediately transfer all your btc away from such wallet in order to stay safe, anything short of that could be dangerous to your account balance.

It seems to me necessary to include two-factor authorization if possible. Additional measures of protection have not harmed anyone yet!

Did this happen to you? My goodness! If this happened to you, I hope the wallet you are using is only having some small amount of Bitcoin. Because if the amount is somewhere around 5 BTC, then mistakes sometimes really pay a high price.

Take very extra careful next time.

This can happen to everyone but still there are clear difference between private keys and address and you don't and needn't play with your private keys unless you are trying to write it in a paper.

This is something really scares me off. I think we should take our time before looking into crypto coin wallets, drink water and read with clear mind.

As they say..A fool and his money are easily parted.
If you're a newbie don't rush in to things and don't invest too much for the first few months, you will make many mistakes, buy small and play with exchanges and wallets until you know your way around them and the market.

I think using a wallet such as the Ledger Nano S does not make this mistake.

Yeah but, such wallets should offer validation for input fields, if owner inputs private key accidentally, validation should occur and warn user to change input with a correct value.

I'm sorry, but if that ever happened to you, I'd urge you to learn more about the basics of Bitcoin.
It's a mistake that if very easily avoidable if you know what you're doing, it's not even hard to just take some time and learn the difference between private and public keys.

Also read the documentation of your wallet software before you start exporting wallets etc.
