The popular encrypted messaging app Telegram will launch its own Blockchain platform and cryptocurrency, according to sources familiar with the matter. The new platform will be dubbed either “The Open Network” or “Telegram Open Network” (TON) and is supposed to be based on an improved version of Blockchain technology.

Initial reports of the new platform surfaced today from Anton Rozenberg, a former employee of Telegram’s publishing division Telegraph. Rozenberg posted on Facebook what he claims is an advertorial video for the new platform (he did not disclose the source of the video). He also pointed out that TON would aid those under oppressive governments, since they would be able to transfer money natively through the messaging app. This could serve to break the state’s control over citizens’ money, added Rozenberg.

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

What can I say more, the developers of Telegrams are just great! True, all this is very similar to the revolution for freedom and independence from government control, and no government will tolerate this! Of course, according to the law, no one can present anything to developers, it's true. But I would not be surprised if in a short time all media will refer to the Telegram as a terrorist platform, and all the project participants as enemies of the people)))
Well, let's wait for the launch of the blockchain platform and see what the authorities say Grin

If they really wanted to give their users access to cryptocurrency, they should have added one of existing coins instead of running an ICO to create a new altcoin that probably will be centralized and not secure, because very few people would run nodes and mine it - most users will just use it inside Telegram, meaning they will run lightweight clients. And as soon as Lightning Network will come out, their coin will likely die, because who would want to hold and use minority coin if you can get cheap and instant Bitcoin transactions?

How safe it will be remains to be seen, but Telegram's history and vehemence to protect user privacy & data is aided by the fact that large number of it's users (180 million of them) are also a part of he blockchain community already. And it's founder's immense wealth of 300 million USD and 2000 BTC should be of some assurance of the quality of investment being made in nodules and the network.
