Noobie question, but why do some altcoins use their own windows/mac wallet compared to a web wallet such as MEW?

Maybe i am wrong but you can stake lot of alts and you need to keep your wallet open during staking. Also alts use own blockchain so they are not compatible with each other.

You mean as in hosting their altcoin on MEW? If that's even possible, it would probably give them a shite load of restrictions, plus it is much less safe then compiling your own wallet.

Web wallets could get ddosed, sometimes steal your private keys, etc.

Some coins have both windows/android wallets and web wallets available just to simply have more options available and because people have their own preferences. Most altcoins have windows/mac wallets due to it probably being a lot safer for the less tech-savvy people due to their users not having to Google that certain wallets website, hence eliminating the chances of being phished.

Wouldn't web wallets be riskier since they could potentially contain viruses or keyloggers?

Somewhat. In some cases, you might open your wallet in a phising website. For example: MEW's website is myetherwallet.com and if you're not observant you risk your coin's security in danger if you had the wrong website which can be myetherwallet.io, myetheerwallet.com and alike.

myether wallet is the best and secure wallet it has great demand so once you have to try and check about this wallet. generally most of the people using this wallet if we had use windows wallet it may get in to hacked so for that reason we don't try to use this wallet. most of the people don't no windows wallet hacking but it is true. so you try to use myether wallet this wallet get more demand so use this wallet for your bit coin purpose.if you have some more of interest then try once mycelium wallet more secure and another one is trezor wallet.
